Lagos to Host Leading RegTech Conference in 2026
Lagos, Nigeria, December 11, 2025 – Under the auspices of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, alongside the Presidential Commission on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI) and the Intergovernmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA), the 2026 RegTech Africa Conference & Expo is set to convene global policy leaders. Scheduled to take place from May 20 to May 22, 2026, the prestigious Finance and Technology Exhibition will be held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja.
Themed “Building Trust, Infrastructure, and Policy for a Borderless Economy,” this event aims to be the premier international platform for advancing trusted digital financial systems, enhancing cross-border trade, and fostering regulatory innovation.
Participants will include heads of government, regulators, central banks, financial intelligence units, multinational financial institutions, technology executives, investors, and policymakers. Their goal will be to develop collaborative strategies that address the necessary infrastructure, governance, and digital trust frameworks for Africa to thrive in the global digital economy. Cyril Okoroigwe, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the significance of regulatory technology, stating that it is vital for creating a secure, inclusive, and sustainable economic framework.
A key highlight of the conference will be the Global Startup World Cup Tournament – Regional Challenge, designed to provide African startups a premier platform to pitch their innovative solutions in front of international juries, venture capitalists, and industry experts. Winners from this regional challenge will advance to the finale in Silicon Valley, competing for a $1 million investment prize while gaining access to global investors, accelerators, and strategic partnerships.
Graham Olasukanmi Lawal, Partnership Director for RegTech Africa, noted that hosting the Startup World Cup Regional Challenge in Abuja will not only spotlight African innovation but also facilitate direct connections to global capital, mentorship, and market access.
As a venue for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration, the three-day event will feature strategic ministerial dialogues, private executive roundtables, investment-focused breakout sessions, technology showcases, and a curated networking platform to foster impactful public-private partnerships.
Opportunities for Sponsorship and Strategic Partnerships
Organizations from both the public and private sectors, including multinational corporations, development finance institutions, technology firms, and venture funds, are invited to engage as strategic sponsors and partners. Available partnership opportunities span critical areas such as policy leadership, infrastructure development, innovation acceleration, and market expansion. Lawal stated that this presents a valuable chance for forward-thinking institutions to align their brands with the future of regulation, trust infrastructure, and borderless digital commerce across Africa and beyond.
The conference is expected to attract thousands of attendees from regions including Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America, creating a diverse tapestry of shared insights and collaborative efforts.
