Bayern Munich Dominates Union Berlin in 4-0 Bundesliga Victory
Bayern Munich showcased their formidable scoring prowess on Saturday, netting three goals in just seven minutes to secure a convincing 4-0 win against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. This victory not only brings the team closer to surpassing its all-time goalscoring record but also reinforces their position at the top of the league standings.
The Bavarian giants, in pursuit of three trophies this season, recently earned a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals, having triumphed over Atalanta with a staggering aggregate score of 10-2. With this latest win, Bayern now holds a nine-point lead in the Bundesliga table.
Currently, Bayern Munich has scored a total of 97 league goals, just four short of the club’s historical record established during the 1971-72 Bundesliga season. Vincent Kompany, head coach of the team, remarked on the achievement, stating that while reaching the record is a goal, his primary focus remains on performance rather than statistics. “We need to consistently showcase our strengths, regardless of the opponent,” he emphasized.
Union Berlin managed to hold off Bayern for the first half hour of the match, but the pressure became relentless. Promising teenager Lennart Karl, recently called up to the national team, was inches away from scoring when he hit the post. Bayern broke the deadlock shortly before halftime, with Michael Olysse finding the net in the 42nd minute.
Serge Gnabry doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time, and Harry Kane added the third goal just minutes into the second half. The Bundesliga’s top scorer, Kane is currently vying for Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single season, boasting 31 goals with seven matches left to play.
Gnabry then scored his second goal of the match in the 67th minute, extending Bayern’s dominance. Towards the end of the game, Kane nearly increased his tally further, but Oliseh’s shot from distance hit the woodwork and veered wide.
Dortmund Stages Dramatic Comeback Against Hamburg
In other Bundesliga action, Borussia Dortmund managed a thrilling comeback, scoring three goals in the second half to overturn a 2-0 deficit for a 3-2 victory over Hamburg. Despite missing a penalty kick earlier in the match, Dortmund showed resilience and determination to secure the win.
Hamburg took the lead in the 19th minute through a tap-in from Philippe Otele, followed by a goal from Alberto Sambi Lokonga in the 38th minute. Just before halftime, Dortmund’s Felix Nmeka squandered a chance to reduce the deficit by missing a penalty. However, a second chance came in the 73rd minute when Ramy Bensebaini converted successfully, bringing the score to 2-1. Six minutes later, substitute Serhou Guirassi equalized, before Bensebaini struck again from the spot in the 84th minute to complete the comeback.
Milan Maintains Pressure in Serie A with Victory Over Torino
Meanwhile, AC Milan shifted into high gear to claim a 3-2 win against Torino, narrowing the gap to Serie A leaders Inter to just five points. Torino had a strong start, but Milan’s resolve prevailed in the second half.
Strahinja Pavlovic opened the scoring for Milan with a remarkable goal in the 37th minute. Tensions mounted as Giovanni Simeone equalized for Torino just before halftime, prompting a stern response from the Milan squad during the interval. Adrien Rabiot restored Milan’s lead in the 54th minute, followed closely by Yussuf Fofana doubling the advantage. Despite Nikola Vlasic scoring from the penalty spot for Torino late in the game, Milan held on for the win.
Juventus Held to Draw Against Sassuolo
Juventus faced a frustrating 1-1 draw against Sassuolo, who were battling a squad depleted by illness. Juventus had an opportunity to advance but couldn’t capitalize against a weakened opponent.
Kenan Yildiz put Juventus ahead in the 14th minute, yet Sassuolo equalized shortly after halftime when Andrea Pinamonti converted Domenico Berardi’s low cross. Late in the match, a weak penalty from Manuel Locatelli further hampered Juventus, preventing them from moving ahead of Como in the league standings.
Paris Saint-Germain Returns to Ligue 1 Summit
In Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) claimed a dominant 4-0 victory over Nice, reasserting their lead in the league. The win leaves PSG with 60 points from 26 matches, one ahead of second-placed Reims.

The 18-year-old Doro Fernandes marked his first senior goal for PSG, while the team’s fluent attacking play was further evidenced by Warren Zaire-Emery’s late addition to the scoreline. Nice’s struggles were exacerbated by a red card shown to Yussouf Ndayishimiye, leaving them to finish the match with ten players.
