Pastor Emphasizes Christ as Hope for Nigeria
The President of Christ Apostolic Church, Pastor Samuel Oladele, has reaffirmed that Jesus Christ is the singular eternal source of hope for Nigeria and the world at large.
Reflections on the Nature of News
Pastor Oladele expressed these sentiments during the “Easter Service with the CAC President,” held at the CAC All Saints Chapel in Ibadan, Oyo State. In his sermon titled “The Gospel of the Resurrection,” he referred to 1 Corinthians 15, addressing the troubling realities of today’s world, including war, economic challenges, public insecurity, and moral degradation, all of which contribute to widespread anxiety about the future.
The Good News of Resurrection
In light of these pressing issues, he underscored that Christ’s resurrection represents timeless good news, providing both present assurance and the promise of eternal life. According to him, news can be categorized into three types: old news, new news, and good news.
Hope Amid Crisis
He elaborated on how some news reports become outdated while others may be new yet misleading. Conversely, the message of Jesus Christ’s resurrection remains unique, timeless, and full of life-giving relevance, serving as the only beacon of hope for Nigerians amid the nation’s current crises.
A Lasting Legacy
Pastor Oladele remarked that even the most celebrated achievements in life are temporary and do not offer enduring solace. He commented, “Even if you are told that you will be president of the Christian Apostolic Church or of Nigeria, that is good news, but it won’t last forever. The gospel of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ stands apart; it is old yet perpetually new and eternally good.”
Historical Verification of the Resurrection
The pastor further affirmed that the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are well-documented facts, validated by scriptural accounts and historical evidence. He noted that the resurrection was foretold and confirmed by Christ’s appearances to his followers following his resurrection.
The Strength of Faith
Highlighting the strength and resilience of the Christian faith, Oladele noted that it is firmly rooted in the risen Christ. He stated that despite facing persistent persecution and challenges through the ages, the church continues to thrive, bolstered by divine power. He reminded the congregation that the essence of the Church lies not in its physical buildings but in the believers who uphold their faith in Christ, ensuring that no force, whether human or demonic, can overcome it.
Encouragement to Share the Resurrection Message
Pastor Oladele concluded by urging Christians worldwide to embrace and spread the message of the Resurrection, emphasizing that it offers lasting hope to humanity both in the present and for eternity.
