Hot Ticket Productions Unveils Voice Cast for New Sci-Fi Animated Series
Hot Ticket Productions has revealed the voice cast for its upcoming animated series, Secrets of the Multiverse. This 13-episode sci-fi project serves as a spin-off of Nigeria’s first full-length animated film, Lady Bakit and the Motley Mopsters, and is expected to debut on major streaming platforms in 2026.
Plot Overview
The narrative centers around two children who stumble into the multiverse, where they must traverse various parallel worlds to avert an impending extinction event. Executive producer Blessing Amidu, alongside his daughter and screenwriter Emanuela Amidu, emphasized the gravity of their adventure, stating, “It’s a dangerous world that challenges not only their survival but also their sense of morality.”
Cast Highlights
Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi leads the voice cast as Iyabo, the series’ maternal figure. Etomi identifies closely with the character, mentioning, “Iyabo is basically me,” reflecting her personal experiences as a mother. She pointed out the significance of representing a Nigerian mother in animation, emphasizing the nuances of affection and discipline conveyed through a familiar vocal intonation.
Motivation Behind Participation
Etomi’s involvement extends beyond the character; it stems from her desire to provide Nigerian children with relatable content. Citing her childhood admiration for shows like Super Ted and Danger Mouse, she expressed concern over the lack of local cartoons accessible to Nigerian youth. “This is from Africa, this is from Nigeria, and we made it for us,” she remarked, highlighting the series’ core values that resonate with her mission. “It’s not just about how much I get paid; it’s about the message we’re conveying.”
Returning Cast and New Challenges
Jessica Edwards will reprise her role as Booky, a character she voiced in the original film. Now a teenager, Booky is thrust into the multiverse to tackle a host of villains. Edwards, who is now 16 years old, will also voice a villain in the series. Reflecting on her return, she mentioned the importance of trust, stating, “There are people in this world who trust in my abilities more than I trust in myself.” She approached the dual roles with a keen understanding of the characters’ backgrounds, recognizing that true talent evolves over time.
New Talent Joins the Production
Korede Lawal makes her debut in the cast as William Tam, a morally complex character whose motives are driven by a desire to protect his own multiverse. “He’s not just being evil because he wants to be evil,” Lawal explained, noting the significance of understanding characters beyond their surface traits. Her audition process involved refining her vocal range to capture the character’s nuances, teaching her valuable lessons about empathy.
Production and Future Aspirations
Directed by Adebisi Adetayo, technical director at 32ad Animation Studios and previous director of the original film, along with Hollywood director Robert Sledge, the series promises high-quality animation produced in 4K. The assembled cast also includes talents such as Akolede Bobo, Fiyin Asenuga, Mariam Ibrahim Yakasa, and Emanuela Amidu. Secrets of the Multiverse is currently in production, and Etomi passionately expressed the team’s goal of showcasing their culture’s authenticity to a global audience: “We want to show that our cultures, ideologies, accents, and stories are raw and authentic.”
