Undefeated Juliette Uka to Face Jane Osigwe at PFL Africa Season Opener
On Saturday, April 10, at Pretoria’s Sunbet Arena, Police Corporal Juliette “Golden Bones” Uka, an undefeated strawweight fighter, will compete against fellow Nigerian Jane “The Slayer” Osigwe in a highly anticipated match within the 115-pound division, as part of the PFL Africa Season 2 opener.
Event Lineup Features Top Fighters
The event will be headlined by bantamweight champion Nkosi “King” Ndebele facing Italy’s Michele Clemente, while a co-main event features heavyweight challenger Justin Clarke taking on Senegal’s Abdoulaye Kane.
Uka’s Impressive Record
Uka enters the fight with a perfect 8-0 record, including two wins under the PFL Africa banner. Notable victories include a three-round decision over South Africa’s Seely Niedermayer in Cape Town in July 2025 and a first-round TKO against Egypt’s Mariam Gaber during the African finals in Cotonou, Benin.
A Rising Star in Women’s MMA
At 26, Uka has emerged as one of the most promising names in women’s mixed martial arts in Africa and is recognized as the first African-born female fighter to sign with the PFL. Her journey, however, has been largely uncharted and spontaneous.
Unplanned Career Path
In 2022, Uka was approached by Henry George, the head of the Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation, and she accepted a last-minute invitation to fight in Cameroon as a replacement. Initially unfamiliar with the sport’s rules, Uka took the risk and won that debut match, which sparked a successful trajectory that included victories in EFC, Imbgim FC, and various other African promotions before joining PFL.
Balancing Law Enforcement and Fighting
Uka has also served as a corporal in the Nigeria Police Force since 2018. Inspired by Chioma Ajungwa, who won Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medal in long jump in 1996, Uka finds balance between her career in law enforcement and her passion for MMA. The police department’s mixed martial arts program has further fueled her commitment to the sport. Recently, she celebrated Police Day, emphasizing the unique blend of discipline and athletics.
Anticipation for the Fight
As she prepares for the fight in Pretoria, Uka expresses that the opportunity to showcase women’s MMA in Africa is a significant motivator. She stated that the upcoming bout represents a critical moment for women in African MMA, aiming to inspire growth and competitiveness on both the continental and global stages.
Looking Ahead to the Matchup
Osigwe, now 20 years old, comes into this match following a successful run in the sport, including winning the interim title with African Knockout (AKO). She boasts an aggressive fighting style marked by high TKO and KO finish rates. With this bout marking her PFL debut and a transition to the strawweight division, Osigwe aims to challenge Uka’s composure and strategy.
Fostering a New Generation of Fighters
Uka acknowledges her fellow Nigerian fighters on the card, appreciating the collective progress made within the sport. She believes in her role as a pioneer and is committed to mentoring others on similar paths. Uka emphasizes that her journey is about more than personal accolades; she aims to inspire and uplift other women in Nigeria and beyond, regardless of their backgrounds.
