Nigeria’s Creative Economy Set for Expansion through New Partnership
Nigeria is positioned to capture a larger share of the $2 trillion global creative economy, thanks to a strategic collaboration between the Lewis Awards Foundation (LAF) and Archers. This partnership aims to enhance opportunities for youth and underserved communities across the nation.
A Growing Sector with Job Creation Potential
Africa’s creative industry is rapidly evolving, valued at an estimated $59 billion while supporting millions of jobs, of which over 4 million are based in Nigeria alone. According to a PwC report, Nigeria’s creative sector, valued at nearly $15 billion, employs between 4 million and 4.2 million people and has the potential to generate an additional 2 million to 3 million jobs by 2030.
Unlocking Entrepreneurial Potential in Nigeria’s Creative Landscape
Louis Award, founder of LAF, emphasized the burgeoning creative ecosystem in Nigeria as a fertile ground for entrepreneurial success. He articulated that this partnership with Archers is designed to unlock this significant potential for growth.
A Vision for Empowerment and Inclusion
This collaboration is driven by a mutual commitment to empowerment, education, and inclusive development, particularly for underserved communities. Award stated that the alliance signifies a shared vision aimed at sustainable impact, using compassion, empowerment, and collaboration as cornerstones for change.
Transforming Lives through Access and Opportunity
According to Award, the foundation’s mission is to transform lives and broaden access to opportunities. Originally established to break down barriers for young Nigerians, it has evolved into a purpose-driven platform focused on fostering growth.
Clothe-A-Child Initiative Aims to Restore Dignity
The partnership will enhance the program’s impact, utilizing media, storytelling, and community engagement to increase visibility and outreach. Central to this effort is the Clothe-A-Child Initiative, which aims to restore dignity and hope to children in underserved communities by providing essential learning resources and improving the school environments for approximately 300 students in public schools in Lagos and Ogun states.
Expanding Reach through Shared Values
Michael Olabode, Brand Experience Director at Archers, described this partnership as a natural alignment of values around youth development and opportunity creation. He explained that the collaboration allows both entities to extend their influence beyond entertainment to empowerment and community development, thereby significantly enhancing their reach and effectiveness.
Strengthening Community Engagement through Storytelling
Faber Marcus, LAF’s Head of Management, Operations, and Digital Support, also highlighted the strategic importance of storytelling in fostering social impact. She noted that Archers would play a vital role in promoting the initiative, mobilizing volunteers, and showcasing the stories of those benefiting from the programs.
Collaboration Leads to Sustainable Results
Antonia Sokoya, LAF Coordinator for Ogun State, stressed that the partnership highlights the power of collaboration in philanthropy and achieving sustainable results. She expressed confidence that the initiative would reach a broader audience and garner support, leading to greater awareness and additional resources to ensure its success.
