Moniepoint Initiates Recruitment for DreamDevs Program
Moniepoint Inc., a provider of digital financial services, has launched the recruitment process for the second cohort of its flagship initiative, DreamDevs, which is aimed at bolstering the technology talent pipeline across Africa. The announcement was made on Thursday by Felix Icke, Chief Technology Officer at Moniepoint.
Empowering Fresh Graduates with Industry Skills
The DreamDevs program targets recent graduates throughout Nigeria, seeking to address the significant skills gap in the tech industry. By providing young professionals with essential industry skills and practical experience, the program aims to prepare them for the demands of the global job market.
Exclusive Selection and Intensive Training
Structured as a national search for high-potential software engineers, DreamDevs selects 20 candidates annually for an intensive nine-week bootcamp. Following this rigorous training, the top participants will have the opportunity to progress into a six-month internship at Moniepoint, with the potential for full-time employment based on their performance.
Success of First Cohort Demonstrates Effectiveness
The inaugural cohort of the DreamDevs initiative successfully resulted in the employment of four individuals—three interns and one full-time engineer—underscoring the program’s ability to cultivate talent effectively. Icke emphasized that the first cohort’s results have solidified the company’s confidence in the capabilities of Africa’s emerging tech talent.
Aiming for Sustainability and Career Growth
With a commitment to transforming half of this year’s participants into full-time employees, DreamDevs is fundamentally about establishing sustainable career pathways that contribute to the growth of Africa’s digital economy. Icke stated that the right training and support can enable Africa’s young talent to compete on a global scale.
Alignment with Broader Talent Development Goals
This initiative is part of Moniepoint’s extended vision to harness technology for financial inclusion throughout Africa. Icke pointed out that DreamDevs complements other talent development programs at Moniepoint, including HatchDev, a partnership with the University of Lagos NITHub that cultivates approximately 500 professional developers annually.
Encouraging Applications from Ambitious Graduates
Moreover, DreamDevs builds on Moniepoint’s existing Women in Technology initiative, which is now in its fifth year, and aligns with the federal government’s ambitious plan to develop 3 million tech talents, of which Moniepoint is a primary sponsor. Interested graduates who possess technical aptitude, learning potential, and share Moniepoint’s values of innovation and excellence are encouraged to apply at dreamdevs.moniepoint.com before the January 20 deadline.
