PDP Faction in Ondo State Appoints New Executive Leadership
The Ondo State faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in collaboration with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, has appointed new executive members to guide the party over the next four years.
Leadership Transition at State Assembly
Olaniyi Ogunbuji has been officially sworn in as the chairman of the state party faction during a ceremony at the state assembly in Akure on Tuesday.
Key Executive Positions Filled
Other newly elected officials include Akinwamid Adedeji as the National Vice-Chairman, Alake Joseph Olumuyiwa as Secretary of State, and Clement Adefemi as the State Treasurer. Additionally, Akintemi Akinduyite has taken the role of State Legal Adviser and Sadiq Fatai serves as National Treasurer, alongside a total of 32 executive members.
Event Attendance Highlights Collaboration
The event was notably attended by representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Ondo State Secretary-General Adenike Tadese, as well as officials from the Department of State Security (DSS), underscoring the importance of the gathering in ensuring political stability.
Call for Unity and Reconciliation
In his remarks, Adebiyi Abiodun Phillips, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Districts, emphasized the necessity of unity within the party. He called on members to prioritize the party’s interests over personal ambitions, stating that now is the time for collective collaboration.
Commitment to Rebuilding the Party
During his acceptance speech, Ogunbuji articulated his intention to focus on restructuring the party in preparation for the upcoming 2027 general elections. He urged party members to set aside their differences and work towards unifying the organization while mobilizing support from the grassroots level.
