Qatar Airways and Emirates have temporarily suspended operations due to airspace closures in the Middle East.
The disruption comes after the US and Israeli attack on Iran, which US President Donald Trump described as a “massive combat operation”, forcing airlines to reroute flights that would normally cross the region.
Qatar Airways Group confirmed that flight operations to Doha remain temporarily suspended until midnight (UTC) on Saturday night.
The airline said it will continue to work closely with government officials and relevant authorities to restore normal operations once airspace is reopened.
Dubai-based airline Emirates has also temporarily suspended flights to and from Dubai due to multiple regional airspace closures, the airline announced on Saturday.
Emirates said it was actively monitoring the development and liaising with relevant authorities. The airline urged customers to check its travel updates and flight status page before heading to the airport.
A missile fired by Israel toward Iran and a retaliatory attack from Iran have led aircraft carriers to avoid affected airspace, prompting countries including Iran and Iraq to close their airspace.
The measures forced airlines to reroute or cancel many flights, and Emirates was also affected. Several flights between India, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and North America have also been severely grounded as the conflict escalates.
Qatar Airways said in a statement that once flights resume, passengers are encouraged to expect delays and check qatarairways.com or the Qatar Airways app for the latest flight information.
Additional ground staff are currently assisting affected passengers at Hamad International Airport to manage the situation.
Qatar Airways said it is making all necessary arrangements to ensure that every effort is made to minimize inconvenience during this disruption.
