Ryan Searle Claims Eighth PDC Ranking Title
In an impressive display of skill, Ryan Searle captured his eighth PDC ranking title with an 8-3 triumph over Alan Sarter in the Players Championship Seven final. This victory marked Searle’s seventh consecutive title at the event, solidifying his position as a formidable contender in the world of darts.
Searle delivered a strong performance, averaging 95.65 points in the final clash. Earlier in the day, he showcased his prowess with an average of 104 points before defeating Raymond van Barneveld and subsequently ending Charlie Manby’s losing streak with a 6-3 win.
In an intense semi-final match, Searle defeated Gary Anderson 7-3, setting the stage for his final encounter against Sarter. His commanding performance in the final affirmed his title as he secured the win with a significant margin.
Reflecting on his performance, Searle expressed mixed emotions, noting, “On average, my best was against Raymond, but emotionally I felt a bit out of sorts.” He has a strong track record in February and March, stating his intent to continue his winning momentum, aiming for additional titles this year.
Throughout the season, Searle has garnered increased attention, particularly after reaching the semi-finals in the 2025/26 World Championships. He emphasized the importance of focusing on practice to maintain his competitive edge while promoting causes like the Cure ADOA Foundation.
Looking ahead, Searle outlined his aspirations for the European Tour, expressing his desire to prove himself on a larger stage. He stated, “I want to win on the European Tour. It would be nice to confirm that I can achieve victory on that platform.”
Historic Achievement for James Wade
In another noteworthy development, James Wade made history by becoming the first player to achieve 1,000 wins at a Players Championship event, starting with a 6-1 victory over Lukas Wennig in the first round. Unfortunately, Wade’s streak was interrupted when he faced Cristo Reyes, who pulled off a surprising 6-2 victory, ending Wade’s journey that night.
Despite the early exit, Wade took to social media to reflect on his milestone achievement, saying, “Well, today wasn’t the ending I wanted, but on a more positive note, this happened. After winning my first match today, I became the first and only player to win 1,000 matches at a Players Championship event.” This extraordinary accomplishment underscores Wade’s enduring legacy in the sport and his dedication to excellence.
