Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has further strengthened his growing reputation as a strong leader in the Nigerian film industry, with his latest feature film, “Love and Renewal,” opening to 106.5 million Naira on opening day, marking another strong box office performance.
According to data from the Nigeria Box Office Report for the weekend of February 13 to 15, the romantic drama had an opening day box office gross of N103.9 million, and by the end of the opening weekend, its cumulative revenue had reached about N106.5 million.
With this performance, this film ranks as one of the best-performing opening films of this year amid intensifying competition at the domestic box office.

Directed by Kayode Kasumu and written by Stephen Okonkwo, Love and New Notes is set in Nigeria in 1984 and follows the journey of the character Boma as he navigates love, life-changing decisions, and the realities of a changing economic environment marked by currency reform.
The film blends romance and social commentary, exploring how personal choices shape relationships and long-term outcomes. The film premiered in Lagos on Sunday night at a high-profile event hosted by Egbuson and garnered a lot of attention ahead of its national release. The premiere attracted a large number of Nollywood actors, musicians, and media personalities, highlighting the industry buzz surrounding the project. Notable attendees included music executive Don Jazzy, actress Funke Akindele, actor Lateef Adimeji and singer Lil Kesh.
Also in attendance at the event were members of the cast and production team including Odunlade Adekola, Ayoola Akiyola, Sophie Alakija, Eniola Badmus, Tolwani George, Constance Owoyomi, Iyola Elvis and Tolu Babs Omish.
The night was filled with a festive atmosphere as Sophie Alakia received a surprise birthday wish and was applauded by those in attendance.
Co-produced by FilmOne Studios and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment in association with FilmTribe Media, the film secured wide theater screening across Nigeria and Ghana. Screenings were held at key locations including Ikeja City Mall and Silverbird Galleria in Lagos, Jabi Lake Mall and Silverbird Entertainment Center in Abuja, Galaxy Mall in Kaduna, Silverbird Cinema in Accra and West Hills Mall in Ghana.

The opening performance further strengthens Egbusun’s box office momentum following the success of 2024’s ‘Reel Love’. The film, also directed by Kasumu, opened with 40.5 million naira on its opening day and grossed over 200 million naira within three weeks of its release.
The film grossed 123.2 million naira in its first week and 99.3 million naira in its opening weekend, making it one of the standout Nollywood films of the year.
According to Filmone Entertainment, in 2023, the 38-year-old was named one of Nigeria’s top 10 box office-grossing actors who earned close to N3 billion from leading actor roles and first and second supporting actor roles in one or more movies.
