The High Command of the Nigerian Armed Forces has reaffirmed that Operation Safety Corridor is a crucial national security initiative aimed at enhancing the country’s counter-terrorism efforts. In response to apprehensions that the operation may appear lenient toward former insurgents, Brigadier General Yusuf Ali, coordinator of the initiative, acknowledged the validity of these concerns, particularly among communities most affected by violence. However, he emphasized that Operation Safety Corridor is fundamentally about bolstering national security and reflects a more comprehensive strategy in combating terrorism in Nigeria.
