Isaacs Kekemeke Seeks Ondo South Senate Seat to Deliver Quality Representation
Isaacs Kekemeke, the National Vice-Chairman (South-West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced his candidacy for the Ondo South Senatorial District in the upcoming general elections. His campaign is centered on providing fair, fearless, and quality representation for the people of his district and the state as a whole.
In a formal announcement made in Akure on Tuesday, Kekemeke expressed that his legislative agenda will prioritize the needs and aspirations of his constituents. His decision to run was significantly influenced by persistent requests from local party leaders, women, and youth groups urging him to step up as a candidate for the Senate.
Kekemeke described the overwhelming support he has received as not only gratifying but also a unique call to service that he found difficult to resist. After months of careful deliberation and consultations with political stakeholders and family, he felt compelled to respond to the community’s enthusiasm.
Supporters of his candidacy have consistently expressed confidence in his integrity and capability to effectively represent Ondo South. “The more I tried to ignore the calls, the louder they became,” he remarked, underlining the community’s strong desire for his leadership.
With a rich political background, Kekemeke has held various important roles, including Minority Leader in the erstwhile Ondo State House of Assembly, Secretary to the State Government, and Attorney General, as well as serving as the Commissioner for Works, Lands, and Housing. Additionally, he was the APC’s Pioneer State Chairman during the party’s formation.
Kekemeke’s vision for his campaign includes the creation of a broad-based coalition that encapsulates the diverse interests of Ondo South, making governance at the federal level more attuned to the needs of the populace. He has consulted with Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa and other party leaders while seeking the APC ticket for the 2027 Senate elections.
In his declaration, he emphasized, “After thorough consultations with the leadership of the party and key stakeholders, I have decided to take on the challenge.” He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that his representation in the Senate would be characterized by a focus on the people’s needs and a pledge to serve with integrity and duty.
Kekemeke concluded with a call to action for voters, urging them to maintain their hope for tangible representation in Abuja. “If the people send me, I am ready to serve again,” he asserted. With a guiding principle of ‘people first’, he seeks the support of the electorate to uphold their interests and advocate for the betterment of Ondo South.
