Tukwila, WA — A Tukwila-based immigration law firm has announced its closure following the resignation of its founder, Alexandra Lozano, several weeks ago. Lozano stepped down from her legal practice rather than face disciplinary action, marking a significant end to her legal career.
On June 10, La Luz del Camino legal team informed clients of its imminent closure, stating it will cease all legal representation services.
The firm expressed regret over this decision, emphasizing in its statement, “We will no longer provide legal representation services.” This announcement comes on the heels of significant changes within the firm.
According to the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA), Lozano resigned on May 26, effectively ending her ability to practice law in Washington. Known on social media as “Abogada de los Milagros,” or “miracle lawyer,” Lozano gained popularity by merging her Catholic imagery with a narrative suggesting she could perform legal miracles.
In addition to her law practice, Lozano authored “Becoming a Law Firm CEO: Gain Control, Increase Profits, and Take Back Your Life,” during her time as a legal practitioner. However, her resignation was deemed a permanent resolution of a disciplinary case by the WSBA, effectively disqualifying her from practicing law in any jurisdiction.
While the firm was noted to have locations in other countries, it remains unclear whether these international offices will continue operations or if they too will close. The WSBA issued a public service announcement, indicating that Lozano’s resignation could impact a considerable number of clients.
La Luz del Camino cited “increasing challenges and unwarranted scrutiny” as part of the rationale behind its decision to close. It reassured former clients of its commitment to their interests, describing this as a challenging moment in the firm’s history. “To Alexandra, our founder and former lead attorney, every client was like a member of the family, and she cared deeply about every case,” the firm stated.
The WSBA confirmed it would not pursue further action, given that Lozano is no longer licensed. Former clients seeking their legal files can reach out via email to abogada@luzlegal.com for assistance. Additionally, the WSBA encourages clients to verify the credentials of any new legal representation they consider.
Furthermore, clients who believe they have incurred financial losses due to Lozano’s actions may qualify for the Washington State Bar Association’s Client Protection Fund. This fund assists clients who have lost money or property due to attorney misconduct, although applicants are generally required to explore other legal remedies beforehand.
Those with concerns regarding Lozano’s conduct are also advised to file a complaint with the Washington Attorney General’s Office, which addresses consumer protection issues.
