Political Advocacy Group Recognizes Dr. Muhammed Jibrin as Patron
The North Central Youth Support Group for President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed Dr. Muhammed Jibrin as its new patron, highlighting his unwavering support for the president and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This recognition ceremony took place on Tuesday in Abuja, where the group emphasized Jibrin’s longstanding commitment to their cause.
Youth Coalition Sets Ambitious Voting Target for 2027
During the ceremony, Comrade Abdullahi Djemil, the Executive Director of the organization, presented the appointment letter to Jibrin. Djemil shared that the youth group has pledged to secure five million votes for President Tinubu in the North Central region by the 2027 elections. He expressed optimism that, with Jibrin’s support and the dedication of other new patrons, they will not only meet this target but surpass it.
Leadership Calls for Unity to Achieve Electoral Goals
Hon. Jeong, a former federal lawmaker from Kogi State, echoed Djemil’s sentiments, emphasizing the group’s commitment to ensuring Tinubu’s return to power in 2027. He remarked that Nigeria would benefit immensely from Tinubu’s leadership, suggesting that his presidency would foster positive change across the nation.
Critics of the Opposition’s Viability
Addressing the current political landscape, Jeong described the opposition and coalition parties as ineffectual. He stated, “Nigeria’s political arena will not see a conflict that could unseat Tinubu in 2027.” He articulated that competition is an inherent part of democracy, dismissing the claims of the opposition as mere noise in a vibrant electoral process.
Assessing the President’s Impact on Regional Development
Jeong also defended Tinubu’s record against criticism, asserting that the president has made significant contributions to infrastructure development in the Mid-North region. He attributed much of the dissent against Tinubu to partisan politics, underscoring the normalcy of opposition in a democratic setting while expressing confidence in Tinubu’s eventual victory.
Dr. Jibrin Commits to President Tinubu’s Vision
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Jibrin pledged his full commitment to advancing Tinubu’s goals. He commended the president’s economic initiatives, calling for support and patience to allow for effective governance. He cited Lagos State’s economic transformation as a testament to Tinubu’s vision, saying, “No other state in Nigeria or even Africa can replicate Lagos’s economic model.”
Economic Reforms and Their Significance
Jibrin outlined several critical policies initiated by Tinubu aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s economy. He discussed the unification of foreign exchange rates, the removal of fuel subsidies, and the introduction of tax reforms and student loan systems. He argued that these changes, although initially painful, are essential for long-term national growth, drawing parallels to successful education systems in other developed nations.
Support from APC Leadership for the New Patron
Both Professor Isa Daniel, Deputy Director of Organization at the APC National Secretariat, and Mr. Isa Iliyasu, the group’s National Legal Adviser, praised Dr. Jibrin for his crucial role in securing Tinubu’s victory in Kogi State during the 2023 elections. They voiced confidence in his ability to galvanize the North Central youth to further enhance Tinubu’s voter base leading up to the 2027 elections.
