Support for Tinubu and Ishola in Ogun State
On Tuesday, at a stakeholder meeting in Abeokuta, at least 11 socio-political groups voiced their backing for President Bola Tinubu’s reelection campaign and Sarafa Tunji Ishola’s gubernatorial ambitions for Ogun State in 2027. The attendees emphasized the need for continuity in leadership, believing that both figures possess the qualities necessary to advance the state’s progress.
Advocating Leadership and Experience
The groups praised Tinubu as a courageous leader dedicated to reshaping Nigeria, asserting that he merits another four years in office. They also highlighted Ishola’s extensive political experience, noting his previous roles as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the UK, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, and Secretary to the Ogun State Government from 2003 to 2007. His service-oriented leadership style was celebrated as a vital asset for the region.
Voices for Change and Progress
Good Governance Advocates spokesperson Olawale Durojaiye articulated the consensus of the supporters, stating: “His extensive background in leadership positions equips him with the necessary skills to make Ogun State thrive.” Durojaiye further acknowledged Tinubu’s significant contributions to the nation’s economy, pointing to increased infrastructure development as evidence of his capability. The groups are urging Nigerians to rally behind Tinubu for the 2027 elections.
A Call for Unity in Ogun State
Supporting this sentiment, Ogun Central Group Coordinator Hakeem Ademolake urged the people of Ogun State to endorse both Tinubu’s reelection and Ishola’s gubernatorial aspirations. He emphasized the importance of having leaders who listen to their constituents, asserting that Ishola is uniquely positioned to foster effective governance. Ademolake asserted, “Our state needs a leader who can inspire hope for economic prosperity,” highlighting the need for collaboration among residents to achieve these goals.
Mobilizing Support for Ishola
Chief Joju Fadairo, a prominent political figure and former APC chairman, also extended his support for Ishola’s gubernatorial aspirations. Fadairo described Ishola as a politician driven by a profound commitment to his community. He has communicated Ishola’s vision to influential leaders, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, indicating broad acceptance of Ishola’s candidacy throughout the state.
Pursuing Political Harmony
At the event, Ishola underscored the need for political harmony in Ogun State. He pointed out that political divisions hinder development and urged a collaborative effort among political actors. “We don’t need further conflict; we need to unify our efforts to unlock Ogun State’s full potential,” he stated, reflecting his dedication to fostering unity and progress in the region.
Reiterating Commitments
Ishola reaffirmed his commitment to the nation’s advancement while expressing his support for President Tinubu. He detailed his previous efforts in promoting government initiatives to UK investors during his tenure in London, noting that the impact of these actions has begun to manifest. Ishola concluded by advocating for Tinubu’s reelection, emphasizing that such leadership will greatly benefit Nigeria and Ogun State in the coming years.
