Draper City Declines Indictment for Dakota Mortensen in Domestic Violence Case
The city of Draper, Utah, has announced that Dakota Mortensen, the former girlfriend of “Mormon Wives” star Taylor Frankie Paul, will not face indictment on domestic violence charges this year.
This decision comes shortly after the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office opted not to press charges against Paul. The Draper City Attorney’s Office concluded that criminal charges were unwarranted following a detailed review of the findings from both the District Attorney’s Office and the Draper Police Department.
The city stated, “After evaluating the prosecutor’s office’s findings and a comprehensive examination of the Draper Police Department’s case, we have determined that charges will not be filed against either Taylor Frankie Paul or Dakota Mortensen in relation to the domestic violence allegations.”
Mortensen initially filed a domestic violence complaint against Paul on February 23. In a counterclaim, Paul accused Mortensen of assaulting her. According to a statement from Draper officials, the investigation concluded that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the claims from either party.
The police indicated that they would reconvene the investigation only if new information emerges suggesting that prosecution could be viable. Both parties have been characterized as contradictory and unreliable witnesses in the police report, raising significant doubts regarding the credibility of their respective statements.
In a separate note, police records from a public information request reveal that a mutual acquaintance reported Mortensen being assaulted by Paul during the February dispute. Mortensen claimed that Paul physically attacked her, while Paul contended that Mortensen had aggressively confronted her, resulting in an altercation.
Following a viral video capturing an incident between the couple earlier this year, allegations of domestic violence gained significant media attention. The video, published by TMZ, depicted a heated exchange in which Paul was seen throwing a chair at Mortensen, underscoring the turbulence of their relationship.
Mortensen’s role in the upcoming season of Vanderpump Villa has been confirmed for editing removal, as a source revealed. Previously, Paul was expected to be a central figure in the next season of ABC’s The Bachelorette, which was canceled following the public outcry prompted by the leaked footage.
Draper, with a population of approximately 50,000, is located in both Salt Lake and Utah counties, south of Salt Lake City. The city’s residents now await any further developments in this high-profile case.
