NSIB Unveils New Terms of Service for Staff
The Nigeria Security Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has officially announced revised terms of service for its employees, marking a significant step in the agency’s commitment to organizational improvement.
During the announcement, NSIB Executive Director Col. Alex Badet Jr. emphasized that this document represents more than just a set of guidelines. It is a comprehensive charter, meticulously outlining the rights, responsibilities, and professional standards expected of all employees as they undertake their critical national missions.
Addressing the staff, Badet expressed pride and a strong sense of responsibility in introducing the newly approved Staff Terms of Service (CoS). He highlighted that under the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his New Hope Agenda, the Nigeria Security Investigations Service has been positioned for greater independence by reporting directly to the President.
This strategic alignment, Badet noted, enhances the Bureau’s authority and operational platform, as it functions as Nigeria’s sole multimodal accident investigation agency. The newly approved terms and conditions align with the Renewed Hope vision, focusing on employee well-being, capacity building, equity, accountability, and professional excellence at the core of the organization’s transformation.
The CoS is designed to directly benefit employees by clearly delineating pathways for appointment, promotion, training, and development. It also ensures a fair and transparent disciplinary process while articulating an extensive benefits package encompassing leave entitlements, medical services, allowances, financing, and merit-based pay.
Badet further asserted that the CoS demands the highest standards of conduct, confidentiality, and commitment essential for maintaining the integrity of the Bureau’s sensitive work, all while safeguarding the rights of customers.
He described the document as a robust and transparent framework that not only protects employee rights but also clarifies responsibilities and prioritizes the well-being of all Bureau personnel. Badet encouraged all staff, from newcomers to senior officers and union leaders, to familiarize themselves with the CoS, urging them to let its provisions guide their conduct both in and out of the workplace.
In closing, he reiterated the shared goal of creating a more ambitious and efficient NSIB, capable of saving lives and bolstering the Nigerian economy. He expressed gratitude to the dedicated staff who contributed diligently to the development of this document, announcing that the terms of service will take effect immediately as an official operating guide for NSIB employees.
