Plateau State Government Partners with Outsource Global to Enhance Job Creation
The Plateau State Government has established a strategic partnership with Outsource Global, aiming to enhance its development communication strategy around job creation and digital inclusion. This initiative is poised to position the state as a significant hub within Nigeria’s burgeoning outsourcing industry.
Governor Hosts Outsource Global Delegation
The partnership was formalized during a meeting on Monday between Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutofan, and a delegation from Outsource Global at his former official residence in Rayfield, Jos. The conference revolved around the alignment of workforce development with the state’s long-term economic growth objectives.
Nigeria Emerges as an Outsourcing Competitor
Mr. Amal Hassan, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Outsource Global, who led the delegation, highlighted Nigeria’s rising stature as a competitor in the outsourcing sector. He noted that the nation has proven its capability to provide high-quality professional services, such as legal, accounting, and software engineering solutions, to global clientele.
Expansion into Jos Based on Extensive Research
Mr. Hassan explained that the decision to expand operations into Jos was grounded in comprehensive research which indicated that Plateau State University was well-prepared to handle large-scale outsourcing initiatives. He reported that the program is already gaining traction, with approximately 6,000 applications received within the first week of recruitment.
Creating a Pathway to Employment
“We have commenced extensive interviews and will continue this process,” Mr. Hassan said, emphasizing the strong local interest and characterizing the program as a scalable pathway to employment and global service provision. Mr. Uzochukwu Ejiukwu, Chief Executive Officer of Bluetag and a Director at Outsource Global, echoed this sentiment, stressing that workforce development is essential for attracting investment.
Building a Skilled Workforce for Economic Opportunity
Ejiukwu articulated that cultivating a skilled workforce is vital for unlocking economic opportunities and positioning Plateau State as a competitive landscape for business. He referred to the initiative as a “pipeline of jobs” that establishes a holistic framework for human capital development across various sectors. “The platform identifies talent, aligns individual skill sets, and guides participants to suitable career paths and industry verticals,” he explained.
Scaling the Initiative to Reach Thousands
He indicated that the program is structured to eventually scale to 50,000 participants, with at least 2,000 expected to secure international employment opportunities, while others will be absorbed into domestic outsourcing roles. The six-month internship model is envisioned as a “funnel system,” designed to enhance employability and maintain participant engagement, with a target of hiring at least 50 percent of those involved.
Governor Emphasizes Skills Over Certification
Governor Mutofan described the initiative as a strategic response to rising unemployment, underlining the necessity of prioritizing practical skills over formal certification. “It’s all about skills. Certificates alone don’t equate to competency,” he stated. He emphasized the program’s inclusive nature, noting that it allows participants from all demographics, including housewives, to work from home, contribute to the economy, and earn money.
Collaboration with MTN Nigeria to Launch Program
Additionally, the governor announced that the state has partnered with MTN Nigeria to utilize the Bukuru facility for launching the program, which has the potential to employ up to 1,600 workers in various shifts. He reinforced the notion that this initiative would spur broader economic activity and create ripple effects in housing and the value chains related to digital services. Governor Mutofan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving the ambitious target of creating 50,000 jobs through this collaborative effort.
