Kwara State Sends Third Wave of Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for 2026 Hajj
Five hundred fifty-seven pilgrims from Kwara State have embarked on their journey to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the 2026 Hajj, marking the third wave of departures from the state. This latest group brings the total number of pilgrims flown from Kwara to 1,487.
Departure Details from Babatunde Idi Agbon International Airport
The pilgrims departed on a Max Air flight from Babatunde Idi Agbon International Airport at precisely 10:09 a.m. on Friday, heading towards the holy sites of Islam.
Guidance and Expectations from Officials
Mr. Jumoke Jimoh, the Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, confirmed the details of the departure. AbdulSalam Abdulkadir, the Executive Director of the Council, addressed the pilgrims before their flight, urging responsible behavior during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
Promoting Discipline and Respect
Emphasizing the significance of the pilgrimage, Abdulkadir reminded the pilgrims that they are partaking in a sacred duty. “We must be law-abiding, disciplined, and focused on the spiritual aspects of the Hajj,” he stated. He cautioned the group against actions that could tarnish the image of Kwara State and Nigeria.
Unity and Understanding Among Pilgrims
Abdulkadir highlighted the need for unity, patience, and mutual respect among the pilgrims. “We must coexist peacefully and show tolerance throughout this journey,” he advised, stressing the importance of adhering to established rules and regulations.
Spiritual Significance and Commitment
Chairman Mahmoud Zimba also addressed the pilgrims, reminding them of the profound spiritual nature of the Hajj. “This is not merely a tourist event; it demands dedication, discipline, and sincerity,” he explained, encouraging the pilgrims to remain focused on good deeds during their time in the holy land.
Coordination of Airlift Operations
Zimba expressed satisfaction with the coordination of the airlift, describing the arrangements as efficient and orderly. He reassured the public that measures are in place to facilitate the transportation of the remaining pilgrims without unnecessary delays.
Previous Departures and Ongoing Arrangements
The first group comprising 374 pilgrims from Kwara State successfully departed Ilorin on a Max Air flight earlier this week and reached Medina safely. In addition, a second batch of 556 pilgrims departed on another Max Air flight around 2 a.m. on Thursday as part of the ongoing airlift operations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
