The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has confirmed that it is well-prepared for the upcoming primaries, set to begin on Saturday. The declaration follows the successful completion of candidate screenings, which were described as peaceful, transparent, and devoid of complaints.

Umana Bako, the party’s public relations secretary in Plateau, highlighted that the vetting process was efficiently carried out across all states without any hostility among candidates or party officials. In a telephone interview with Business Day in Jos, he stated that every aspirant who purchased nomination forms and attended the selection committee meeting accepted the results.
Confidence in Primary Election Preparations
Bako expressed optimism regarding the party’s readiness for the primary elections, emphasizing the commitment of party members and executives to the upcoming statewide campaign. He assured, “We have successfully concluded the vetting exercise in Plateau State. The process was peaceful and there was no grudge among the aspirants.”
Date Change for House Primary Announced
It is important to note that the APC’s House primary initially scheduled for Friday has been moved to Saturday. This postponement was confirmed in a press statement from the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, signed by National Publicity Secretary Mr. Felix Moruka.
Upcoming Schedule of Primaries Confirmed
The announcement specified that the House primary for the 2027 general election will now take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, while the dates for other primaries remain unchanged. The Senate primary is slated for Monday, May 18, the state House primary for Wednesday, May 20, the gubernatorial primary for Thursday, May 21, and the presidential primary for Saturday, May 23, 2026.
