Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Initiates Three-Day Prayer and Fasting Initiative
On Saturday, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) announced a three-day prayer and fasting program aimed at seeking divine intervention for peace, healing, stability, and a prosperous future for the nation.
Spiritual Focus Aligned with Biblical Teachings
In a statement issued in Abuja, PFN National Publicity Secretary Mr. Sylvanus Ukafia emphasized that this initiative coincides with the World Day of Pentecost. Drawing upon the teachings from 2 Chronicles 7:14, he urged the faithful to humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from their wicked ways to facilitate healing for the land.
Group Efforts Across Denominations
The PFN highlighted that the observance of prayer and fasting transcends denominational boundaries, inviting all Christians to participate. The decision to commence this spiritual endeavor was made during a meeting of the PFN National Executive Council (NEC) on May 8, where the increasing concerns regarding Nigeria’s current situation were discussed.
Addressing National Concerns Through Prayer
During the meeting, members of the PFN expressed significant concern about the deteriorating security landscape in Nigeria, showcasing persistent violence, attacks on communities, and economic challenges facing millions. With upcoming elections looming, social unrest and uncertainty were deemed pressing issues.
A Call to Unified Prayer
The Fellowship has called upon churches, pastors, leaders, and believers nationwide to actively engage in this prayerful discipline. The fasting will take place from Friday, May 22, 2026, to Saturday, May 23, 2026, in homes, churches, and local councils. The program will culminate on Sunday, May 24—World Pentecost Day—with a national prayer meeting at designated venues across provinces.
Prayer Topics and National Renewal
Participants are encouraged to pray for divine intervention in restoring peace and security, ending violence and crime, and facilitating economic recovery. The PFN also encourages prayers for wisdom and unity among leaders, as well as for peaceful, credible elections that usher in God-fearing and patriotic leaders.
Belief in Nigeria’s Destiny
Ukafia expressed the PFN’s conviction that Nigeria possesses great potential. Through collective repentance, unity, righteousness, and prayer, the Fellowship believes that divine healing, restoration, and national renewal can be achieved. They have urged all Nigerians—particularly the Christian community—to come together in faith and love during this pivotal time.
By harnessing the power of unified prayer, the PFN believes that God can intervene in Nigeria’s affairs, ushering in a new era of peace, stability, and hope.
