Tajudeen Abbas Secures APC Nomination for Zaria Federal Constituency
Tracy Moses reports that Tajudeen Abbas has successfully obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination for re-election to the House of Representatives in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This announcement follows an unopposed endorsement exercise held across the 13 constituencies of Zaria Federal Constituency in Kaduna State on Saturday.
The endorsement event took place simultaneously in various wards, including Kwalbai A, Kwalbai B, Limansingh Kona, and several others, attracting a considerable turnout of party members, stakeholders, and supporters. As the incumbent representative, Abbas has held his position since 2011, and he is now the only candidate permitted by the APC to contest for the seat, solidifying his role as the party’s official candidate for the upcoming election.
In Kwalbai B, where Abbas’s voting district is located, the party officials reported that the endorsement process proceeded smoothly and without incident. Mr. Nafiu Sabo, the ward’s APC secretary, revealed that out of more than 10,000 registered party members, 220 accredited representatives participated in the approval process.
Mallam Ilyas Muhammad Balarabe, the Ward Returning Officer, confirmed that Abbas met all necessary requirements established by the party, including the purchase and vetting of nomination forms. He clarified that Abbas was the sole candidate to receive approval from the APC for the Zaria Federal Constituency primary election.
Following a comprehensive tabulation of results from all 13 constituencies, Dr. Hamisu Ibrahim Kubau, the APC returning officer, formally announced Abbas as the party’s candidate after he garnered 1,376 affirmative votes. “With 13 wards in Zaria Federal Constituency, only Congressman Tajudeen Abbas underwent the entire vetting process,” Kubau stated, highlighting the transparency and order of the endorsement process.
Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the election activities throughout the constituency. Yakubu Oseni, chairman of the APC House of Representatives primary election committee in Kaduna State, remarked that the election results demonstrated Abbas’s popularity and strong grassroots support within the constituency. He praised Abbas for his commitment to inclusive leadership, referring to him as a “leader who listens.”
In his celebratory remarks after the announcement, Abbas expressed gratitude to the APC members and supporters for their renewed confidence in his leadership. He reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation for his constituents, declaring, “Your best days are ahead with me as your representative.” He called upon party supporters to unite and lend their backing to President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and other APC candidates for the 2027 elections. The results of the endorsement exercise were enclosed in a statement from Moussa Krishi, Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations to the Speaker.
