Unopposed Election Solidifies Okoji’s Position in APC for 2027 Elections
Henry Okoji, the representative for the Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency, has secured an unopposed nomination in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for the 2027 Edo State general election. This victory not only enhances Okoji’s political stature within the APC but also solidifies his relationship with key stakeholders in his constituency.
Okoji currently serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream). His uncontested candidacy reflects a growing consensus and trust in his leadership capabilities, as well as his contributions to the development of the constituency since he began his term after the 2023 Lok Sabha elections.
The primaries, conducted in every ward of the Federal Constituency, saw results formally announced in Ubiaha by Returning Officer, Mr. Ambrose Ayewo. This organization underscores the efficiency of the APC’s internal processes and the support Okoji has garnered within the party.
Party leaders and supporters view his unopposed candidacy as a testament to confidence in his representation and leadership style. Okoji addressed the participants following the exercise, expressing gratitude to party leaders, members, and voters for their ongoing trust. He committed to continuing his efforts in providing effective representation and delivering democratic dividends to the constituents.
In his remarks, Okoji expressed profound appreciation for the backing he received from notable figures, including Edo State Governor Yuki and Senator Monday Okpeboro, reaffirming his readiness to advance the party’s interests in the upcoming elections. “This victory belongs to all of us who believe in purposeful leadership, unity, progress, and effective representation,” he stated.
Moreover, Okoji commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and dedication to the party’s advancement. He urged both APC supporters and residents of the constituency to remain united as they approach the pivotal 2027 general elections.
His achievements since his entry into the National Assembly in 2023 include significant engagement in reforming the petroleum sector, a critical issue for Nigeria’s economy, through his legislative initiatives. The APC in Edo State, under Governor Okpeboro’s leadership, is prioritizing organizational strength as it prepares for the forthcoming elections, and Okoji’s unopposed nomination is a decisive step in this direction.
