Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad Becomes APC Candidate for Yola Federal Constituency
Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad has been named the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Yola North, Yola South, and Giray Federal Constituency. He has pledged to represent the party through a commitment to competency, unity, and visible development.
At a press conference held in Yola, Adamawa State, following his victory, Salihijo expressed gratitude for the trust bestowed upon him by APC representatives, stakeholders, and members of the three local governments. He attributed his success to divine grace and robust support from party members.
The newly appointed flagbearer commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership, highlighting how he has positioned the APC as a vital platform for governance, reform, and political renewal in Nigeria. Salihijo noted that the president possesses a profound understanding of both governance and party dynamics.
He also extended his appreciation to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for ensuring fair competition during the primaries. Salihijo mentioned that this equitable process has enhanced his faith in democracy in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of fairness within the party for post-primary cohesion.
Special recognition was given to National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, whom Salihijo characterized as a disciplined leader. He stated that Ribadu’s dedicated service continues to inspire new generations of leaders in Adamawa and beyond, and he intends to model his public service approach after him.
Salihijo also expressed gratitude to APC North East Vice-Chairman Idris Shaibu, State Chairman Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, local government chairs, the State Executive Council, and all party members for their unwavering support. He reached out to fellow aspirants, stating that while primaries select candidates, it is unity that ultimately leads to victory.
He urged for reconciliation and solidarity among party members, stressing that future campaigns will prioritize collective strength, capacity, credibility, and meaningful impact over political rivalry. He emphasized the need for representatives who can attract development, influence policy, and connect communities to new opportunities.
Salihijo expressed his readiness to leverage his experience in rural electrification, infrastructure development, and development finance to tackle key issues such as energy access, employment generation, business growth, and youth productivity. He committed to ensuring that the government in Abuja serves the grassroots effectively.
Pledging to focus on skills development, digital opportunities, small business growth, and agricultural value chains, Salihijo aims to create pathways for sustainable productivity among young people. He believes that promoting inclusion will ultimately enhance security and stability in the region.
Imbuing an inclusive vision, he advocates for giving voice to all demographics—youth, women, traders, farmers, professionals, as well as religious and traditional leaders, including individuals with disabilities. Salihijo asserts that his approach to representation will be grounded in accessibility, transparency, and measurable results.
Viewing his candidacy as the start of a new responsibility rather than an endpoint, Salihijo called on all stakeholders to campaign with shared purpose. He is optimistic that together they can cultivate a stronger, more representative constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
