Achievement Awards Reflecting Strong Leadership
Actions indeed speak louder than words, as evidenced by the impressive accolades secured by Governor Sani’s administration. Since 2023, the governor’s efforts have garnered 23 awards, totaling over $900,000 (more than £1.3 billion) in competitive grants aimed at state development. This array of accolades stands as a testament to his administrative efficacy in addressing political and economic challenges in Kaduna.
Innovative Digital Initiatives
Shortly after taking office, Governor Sani launched a digital transformation for civil service operations and procurement processes, notably to curb inefficiencies. His commitment to innovation did not go unnoticed; the Computer Association of Nigeria named him the “Digital Governor” of 2023, reflecting his focus on modernizing governance.
Commitment to Community Well-Being
Moreover, his proactive approach to governance earned him further recognition, such as the “Pro-Poor Leader of the Year” award from the Good Governance League for an executive order that safeguards the interests of over 2 million underserved citizens. Blueprint Newspaper and Leadership Newspapers also honored him, citing his non-kinetic strategies for peace and financial stability following the removal of fuel subsidies.
Infrastructure Development and Health Sector Honors
Under Sani’s leadership, extensive efforts have been made to enhance infrastructure by building roads, clinics, and schools, particularly benefitting marginalized rural areas, earning accolades from NTA Kaduna. His notable achievements in the healthcare sector led to additional honors, with Kaduna becoming a recognized champion in the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge and receiving substantial funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Promoting Inclusion and Transparency
In governance, Sani has prioritized the empowerment of women and youth through initiatives like the N5 billion Women’s Economic Empowerment Fund. His work in reducing ethnic and religious tensions was recognized at the BusinessDay Women in Leadership Summit, while his commitment to transparency and accountability saw Kaduna ranked first in the 2025 Transparency and Integrity Index.
Significant Recognition and Support
Uba Sani’s administration has also received validations from various sectors, including awards from the Nigerian Broadcasting Authority for transparency in media policy and the UK Department of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development for a decrease in rural violence. The Federal Executive Committee’s endorsement of a light rail network illustrates the confidence in his governance, further substantiated by independent audits.
In total, Kaduna has achieved 23 awards across various categories—nine for executive leadership, seven for healthcare, three for inclusion, and four for independent verification—all within a span of three years. These honors reflect not just a political strategy but a collective victory for the citizens of Kaduna.
