Brighton Hosts Flat Race Live on Sky Sports Racing
Brighton and FFOS Lass will be the locations for Tuesday’s flat races, which will be aired live on Sky Sports Racing starting at 2:43 PM.
3.13 Brighton Features King of War and By the Dip
Seven contenders are set to compete in the Sheefeven Bay event, where Tipsy Tipsters is expected to bring experience from his Boonie Handicap run over a mile at Brighton. Michael Whigham hopes that the seven-year-old, King of War, can rise to the occasion despite carrying a penalty, allowing him to secure consecutive victories at the Sussex racecourse.
King of War has previously claimed four victories at Brighton, with all of them coming over seven furlongs. This race marks his second attempt at a mile since John Egan resumed riding him in 2023.
By the Dip has had three outings this year, all taking place at the all-weather track in Lingfield, where he celebrated one victory and finished second in another. Jim Boyle’s gelding has consistently performed well at Brighton, finishing in the top three in nine of his 11 starts here, including two wins over the same course and distance, suggesting he should acclimate well to the grass.
Jockey James Owen is looking for Rogue Dynasty to improve upon his last outing three weeks ago, where he narrowly missed out in a close finish over the same course and distance. While the four-year-old has not won in nearly a year, his potential remains a point of interest in this race.
Other notable competitors include Spirit of Albion, trained by Michael Appleby, and Marsh Benham from George Baker’s stable.
4.43 Brighton – Dion Baker Aims for Fourth Straight Win
Dion Baker will face 10 rivals at fairplaybet.co.uk, where a £20 free bet is available with a £20 wager on a handicap of 7 furlongs or more. Whigham’s seven-year-old achieved a remarkable hat-trick over the course and distance last week. With Egan back in the saddle, and without a penalty, Baker is set to target his fourth consecutive win.
The main contender for slowing Baker’s momentum could be John Gallagher’s Havana Mojito, who finished second to Baker in their last matchup. Gallagher is hopeful that a 4lb weight advantage will be enough to help his gelding secure a victory, especially after winning over the same course and distance last May.
Prefer the Sister, trained by James Owen, finished third in their last race, putting him back in contention against the top two competitors. Despite a somewhat awkward performance previously, he showed promise toward the end, warranting consideration for another shot at victory.
Also in the mix are Joycean Way, trained by Gary and Josh Moore, along with Bare to Dream and Jackson Street, who are paired with Michael Atwater.
7.39 Ffos Las Features Dappled Light in Hat-Trick Bid
Nine horses are set to compete in the WWP 34 Years Finding Customers Their Dream Homes Handicap over seven furlongs, with Adrian Wintle eyeing a hat-trick for Dappled Light. After finishing seventh in his return race in April, the six-year-old has since recorded back-to-back victories over a mile at Bath and is now ready to face tougher competition with Edward Greatorex aboard.
At the opposite end of the weights, Red Moon, guided by Jack Shannon, will make his third appearance in Handicap Company. His previous strong performance, finishing third, was puzzling due to the track conditions, but a return to better ground could enhance his chances in this event.
Billy Locknane is set to ride Tonal in place of Ian Williams. The horse has amassed five wins in his last nine races, and with the right conditions, he may be poised to achieve even greater success.
Other competitors to keep a close eye on include course and distance winners Kaleidoscope Eyes and Quilt, trained by Ed Walker.
