Kwara APC Hosts Thank You Rally Amidst Election Preparations
On Sunday, tens of thousands of leaders, candidates, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered in Ilorin for a rally to celebrate the party’s success in the recent primary elections and to reaffirm their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The event featured Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the APC’s Kwara governorship candidate, Mr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, along with various candidates gearing up for the upcoming general elections.
Kwara Ndupe Rally Unites Party Members
The rally, named the Kwara Ndupe Rally, attracted thousands of enthusiastic party members who marched through the streets of Ilorin, starting from Queen Elizabeth School and winding through Ojaoba, Post Office, and culminating at the GRA party secretariat. Participants showcased their allegiance through colorful attire, banners, and leaflets, demonstrating broad support for all party candidates in the election.
Signs of Unity Among APC Leaders
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Oba Magaji Abdulkadri, expressed his delight at the robust turnout, characterizing it as a clear indication of unity within the APC. “I am very happy. As you can see, everyone is in a good mood,” he stated. He emphasized that the party remains well-positioned to uphold its influence in the state, confidently stating, “The future of Kwara State is APC from top to bottom by the grace of Allah. The future is very bright.”
Confidence in Political Competitiveness
When addressing concerns about the opposition, Abdulkadri expressed the ruling party’s unwavering confidence. “We are not afraid. We will continue to remain united and work together for the progress of the party and the country,” he affirmed. This sentiment was echoed by other party leaders, including Alhaji Saadu Sarau, Senior Advisor to the Governor, who urged party members to concentrate on issue-based campaigning and to engage in door-to-door mobilization as part of their election strategy.
Collective Efforts Towards Electoral Victory
Sarau emphasized the importance of galvanizing support for voter registration and PVC collection ahead of the elections. “This rally must lead to PVC collection, voter registration, and ultimately victory for voting bodies in February 2027. We must not be complacent,” he urged, highlighting the party’s commitment to an informative campaign based on its record of achievements, including infrastructure development and consistent salary payments.
Reconciliation and Inclusivity Within the Party
APC state chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, expressed his admiration for the large turnout, signifying hope for the party’s success in 2027. In his remarks, articulated through Deputy Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Samari, he encouraged disgruntled members to voice their concerns as the party works to address any grievances. “Unity is key as we prepare for what’s ahead,” he stated.
A Reflection of Party Citizenship
Alhaji Abdulateef Arakawa, the Coordinator for the Kwara State “Ambassadors of New Hope,” described the rally as a manifestation of gratitude following the APC primaries. He underscored that the election of candidates through direct primary processes echoed the collective will of party members. “Power belongs to the people, and their voices have resonated through the primaries. We are thankful that candidates emerged from diverse backgrounds, culminating in a peaceful election process,” he affirmed.
