Catalunya Dragons’ Captain Benjamin García to Transition to Sporting Director Role
Catalunya Dragons have announced that their captain, Benjamin García, will officially retire at the end of the 2026 Super League season to take on the role of the club’s sporting director. This decision marks the end of an impressive playing career of 14 seasons at the top level.
Since 2013, García has been a vital part of the French national team and has played a significant role in the success of the Catalans. Over his career with the club, he has made 282 appearances and scored 42 tries, making him the third most capped player in the franchise’s history.
García’s tenure has been marked by numerous highlights, including victories in the Challenge Cup and League Leaders Shield. He also contributed to the team’s appearances in two Super League Grand Finals in 2021 and 2023, showcasing his pivotal role in the club’s recent successes.
Upon his retirement, García will remain at the club that he considers home. He has completed his qualifications in sports management and sports organization, which will aid him in his new role. García expressed that this was a decision he contemplated for several years, emphasizing the importance of choosing the right moment to conclude his playing career.
