Lagos APM Forum Plans Grassroots Mobilization Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Lagos State United Peoples Movement (APM) Local Government Chairman Forum has announced an ambitious initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilization and expanding membership as part of its strategy for the 2027 general elections. The announcement came through a communiqué released following a strategic meeting held on Thursday, where party leaders assessed the APM’s current standing and crafted plans for the upcoming electoral cycle.
Focus on Expanding Party Reach Across Local Governments
In the communiqué signed by Olanrewaju Ayinde, Chairman of the APM Lagos State Local Government Chairmen’s Forum, the party outlined its commitment to bolstering its framework throughout all 20 local government areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). The APM aims to deepen its influence down to individual wards and polling stations, ensuring a comprehensive approach to mobilization.
Commitment to Community Engagement
The forum emphasized its pledge to intensify recruitment efforts and engage voters directly. “We are determined to build a formidable grassroots-led movement capable of delivering a decisive victory to the APM in 2027,” the communiqué stated, reflecting the party’s focus on achieving a robust organizational structure that promotes active community participation.
Confidence in Gubernatorial Candidate
Members of the forum expressed strong support for Mr. Raja Adeoye, the APM’s gubernatorial candidate, praising his leadership in positioning the party as a credible political alternative in Lagos. There is a shared conviction among party members that Mr. Adeoye can usher in effective governance and champion the APM’s cause in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections.
Acknowledging National Leadership Support
The forum also recognized the invaluable guidance and support from the party’s national leaders, including presidential candidate Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, and national chairman Yusuf Dantal. Their contributions have played a crucial role in shaping the party’s strategy and direction.
Encouraging Collaboration Among Opposition Parties
In a bid to foster unity against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the APM Forum urged all opposition parties in Lagos, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), to join forces. The communiqué stated that cooperation among oppositional forces is essential to pose a viable challenge to the current administration, which has been criticized for its governance.
APM as a Catalyst for Change in Governance
The APM urged Lagos residents seeking an alternative political landscape to join its ranks, positioning the party as a vehicle for accountability, good governance, and sustainable development. The forum is adamant that the upcoming elections present an opportunity for a new course in governance, reaffirming their commitment to remaining united and focused on electoral success.
