Praise for Security Operation in Oyo State
Former Bayelsa senator Ben Murray-Bruce has commended President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria’s security agencies following the successful rescue of abducted students and teachers in Oyo State.
Recognition of Leadership and Coordination
Murray-Bruce described the operation as a testament to effective leadership, strategic intelligence, and professional execution. In a post shared on his verified X handle, he emphasized that the safe return of the victims highlights the potential achievements made through well-coordinated safety measures.
Commendations for Security Architecture
He acknowledged President Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to Nigerian security, specifically praising Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Advisor, for his role in overseeing the country’s security framework. Murray-Bruce stated, “I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast commitment to the security of Nigerians and give special commendation to Malam Nuhu Ribadu for yielding tangible results in enhancing our security architecture.” He further expressed gratitude towards the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security stakeholders involved in the operation.
Calls for National Recognition
Murray-Bruce asserted that the successful rescue necessitates national recognition and support. He remarked, “The safe return of all children to their families is a victory for our nation. Such milestones deserve acknowledgment and encouragement.”
Details of the Rescue Operation
These accolades followed President Tinubu’s confirmation of the safe recovery of an abducted student and teacher during a meticulously coordinated security operation. As reported by PUNCH Online, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Assistant to the President on Intelligence and Strategy, disclosed that eight suspected kidnappers were apprehended, while others met lethal force during the operation.
Focus on Professionalism Over Negotiation
Onanuga clarified that the rescue was executed without negotiations or concessions with the kidnappers, despite demands for the release of a detained leader. “During the operation, eight kidnappers were arrested and are in DSS custody, with some neutralized. There was no quid pro quo for the rescue, as we had charges against the kingpin whose release was sought,” he confirmed, promising a detailed explanation from security agencies soon.
Expressions of Gratitude from Victims
Following their rescue, the students and teachers expressed heartfelt gratitude towards President Tinubu and the security forces. In a video released by the presidential palace, one victim voiced their appreciation, stating, “Mr. President, we are grateful for your commitment to our security and everything you have done for us.”
Government Support for Security Agencies
President Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde also applauded the success of the operation, commending the security agencies for their effective action in safely retrieving the victims.
