The most recent lottery under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued invitations through both the Labor Impact and PEI Express Entry streams. Special consideration was given to international students who graduated from specific institutions, namely the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Dutch University, and College de l’Isle.
Moving forward, all PEI PNP invitation rounds in 2026 will prioritize graduates from these three educational facilities. A comparison of the latest lottery results against prior selection rounds indicates an upward trend in invitations, with 195 issued this month.
The breakdown of immigration categories for invitations issued throughout 2026 reflects varying numbers: 26 for January 15, 109 for February 19, 101 for March 20, 127 for April 16, 113 for May 21, 182 for June 18, and 195 for July 16. Notably, all draws in 2026, except for the March round, followed the invitation-to-apply (ITA) schedule set by the province.
The Labor Impact category encompasses three distinct streams: the Skilled Worker Stream, the Essential Worker Stream, and the International Graduate Stream. As of July 16, a total of 853 candidates have received invitations for provincial nominations this year.
Future Lottery Prospects for PEI PNP
In a notable distinction from other provinces, PEI provides its ITA lottery schedule in advance, which enhances transparency and predictability for prospective candidates. According to the current schedule, five additional draws are planned for the remainder of the year, typically occurring in mid-month on the following dates: August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19, and December 17.
However, these dates are provisional and meant for general guidance. PEI reserves the right to alter the schedule, conducting draws earlier or later than planned, or potentially adding extra rounds later in the year. Despite this flexibility, the province has maintained a commendable record of adhering to its announced dates, with eight of eleven draws in 2025 and six of seven draws this year occurring as scheduled.
PEI first publicly disclosed its ITA schedule on January 7, 2026, just one week prior to the initial draw, showcasing their commitment to keeping candidates informed.
Qualifying for the Next Drawing
Foreign nationals looking to be considered in future draws must register and submit a statement of interest through the official PEI immigration portal. Each profile undergoes a thorough review and is assigned a score based on various criteria, reflecting the candidate’s potential contributions to the local labor market and economy.
Profiles are ranked using a points-based system that weighs factors such as official language proficiency in English or French, education level and field of study, relevant work experience, alignment with state workforce priorities, and overall employability, which may include having job offers in PEI or previous experience in Canada.
Candidates with higher scores and compelling evidence of potential economic integration are more likely to be selected. Once issued an invitation, candidates have 30 calendar days to submit a complete state nomination application. Accepted applicants will receive a provincial recommendation, enabling them to apply for permanent residency through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
