Meridianbet Secures Sponsorship for UFC Fight Night Belgrade
Meridianbet has officially become the sports betting sponsor for UFC Fight Night Belgrade, clinching exclusive betting rights to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s inaugural event in Serbia.
Scheduled for August 1 at the Belgrade Arena, this event will herald the UFC’s first foray into the Balkans, marking a significant milestone for Meridianbet, a brand that originated in Serbia, as announced in a statement on Thursday.
The sponsorship agreement grants Meridianbet extensive branding opportunities throughout the event. This includes visibility inside the UFC Octagon, placements on official event collateral such as fight posters and round cards, in-arena advertising, and an integrated promotional campaign across UFC’s digital and social media channels.
The fight night will be broadcast live on Paramount+ in the United States and will be distributed internationally via the UFC’s broadcast network, offering betting companies exposure to millions of viewers worldwide.
This partnership is part of a broader strategy by Meridianbet to enhance its footprint in the global sports arena. Established in Serbia in 2001, the company currently operates across more than 25 regulated markets in Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
William Scott, CEO of Meridian Holdings, emphasized the importance of this event, stating that “Serbia is where Meridianbet’s history began 25 years ago, and there’s no bigger stage to celebrate that journey than UFC’s first-ever event in the country.” He also noted that martial arts remains a pivotal element of the company’s sponsorship strategy, enabling them to partner with one of the world’s leading sports organizations to bolster their global entertainment brand.
Additionally, Meridianbet highlighted its ambitions in Nigeria, seeking to bridge the gap between local fans and significant international sporting events outside of football. Lol Desaru, Managing Director of Meridianbet Nigeria, expressed that the deal not only reflects the company’s international expansion but also resonates strongly with sports enthusiasts in Nigeria. He remarked that “Nigerians are passionate about martial arts, from boxing to mixed martial arts, and this collaboration further solidifies Meridianbet’s brand as a connector of fans to the most significant moments in global sport.”
Margaret Otaru, Marketing Manager at Meridianbet Nigeria, noted that the partnership aligns with the company’s strategy to merge sports, entertainment, and culture. She commented, “Partnering with a global venue like the UFC enhances our storytelling and provides our users with new ways to engage with our brand beyond football.”
Overall, the UFC deal represents an expansion of Meridianbet’s portfolio of international sports partnerships, reflecting the company’s ongoing investment in premium sports facilities and its commitment to attracting fans from diverse disciplines.
