New Leadership Elected for Advertisers Association of Nigeria
The Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) has appointed a new Executive Council to lead the organization for the 2026-2028 term. The election took place during the association’s annual general meeting held on July 23, 2026, in Lagos.
Executive Council Composition
The newly elected council features a diverse range of professionals, including:
- Otega Ogura, Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Digital/New Media — President.
- Gloria Nwabuike, Managing Director of AACE Foods Ltd. — First Vice President.
- Maurice Igugu, Chief Marketing Officer at Alternative Bank — Second Vice President.
- Seni Ogunkola, Vice President of Brand and Marketing at T2 Mobile — Finance Director.
- Adeola Amosun, Media Tolaram Group Head — Public Relations Director.
- Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh, Head of External Communications at Reckitt Nigeria — Executive Council Member.
- James Odejimi, Head of Marketing, PZ (HPZ SBU) — Executive Council Member.
- Martha Ojei Kayode, Head of Marketing at PZ Cussons — Executive Council Member.
- Omobolanle Osotule, Head of Brand Marketing and Communications at Airtel Networks — Executive Council Member.
- Mr. Oge Maduakwu, Head of Marketing and Communications at Samsung Electronics West Africa — Executive Council Member.
Transition of Leadership
The newly elected council will succeed the previous Executive Council led by Mr. Osamede Ubummwen. In his acceptance speech, President Otega Ogura expressed gratitude to the association’s members for their trust in the new leadership. He committed to fostering an inclusive, purposeful, and results-oriented administration.
Focus on Enhancing Member Value
Ogura emphasized that the new council’s main objective is to enhance the benefits ADVAN offers its members. The council aims to develop marketing professionals’ skills, deepen collaboration within the advertising ecosystem, and strengthen engagement with regulators and other key stakeholders. “This is not just a mandate; it is a responsibility to strengthen ADVAN as the leading voice for advertisers and marketing professionals in Nigeria,” he stated.
Navigating Industry Changes
The President highlighted the rapid changes impacting the industry, including advancements in technology, artificial intelligence, data analytics, regulation, and shifting consumer behaviors. He affirmed that ADVAN must equip its members to understand and adapt to these transformations.
Plans for Professional Development
The incoming administration aims to prioritize systematic development, executive education, and professional learning opportunities for members at various career stages. Plans are underway to establish the ADVAN Institute of Marketing and Brand Leadership as part of the proposed ADVAN Business School. This initiative will focus on research, training, and the documentation of marketing knowledge in Nigeria.
Strengthening Industry Relationships
In addressing ADVAN’s relationship with regulatory bodies, including the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Ogura emphasized the importance of constructive engagement. “ADVAN will continue to protect the legitimate interests of its members while engaging in dialogue and building mutual respect as foundational principles for a stable industry that significantly contributes to the Nigerian economy,” Ogura explained.
Acknowledging Previous Achievements
The new President commended the outgoing Executive Council for their accomplishments and recognized the contributions of past leaders, board members, and industry stakeholders to ADVAN’s development. The new Executive Council will officially commence its two-year term and will outline its strategic priorities and implementation plan following its inaugural meeting. ADVAN serves as a collective organization for advertisers and marketing professionals, advocating for professional excellence and responsible marketing practices in Nigeria.
