Ogun State Governor Commits to Delivering Votes for President Tinubu
Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, has pledged to secure 95 percent of the state’s votes for President Bola Ahmad Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections. He emphasized that the president merits a second term due to the significant economic reforms initiated by his administration.
Strategic Meeting of the All Progressives Congress
Governor Abiodun made this commitment during a key meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Lodge in Ibara, Abeokuta. He highlighted that the reforms under President Tinubu have successfully redefined the country’s economic landscape, establishing a foundation for long-term growth and development.
Peaceful Primaries Set Ogun Apart
During his address, Abiodun praised the APC members in Ogun State for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the primary elections. He remarked that the state’s process was distinguished from others through transparency and efficiency.
Unity and Discipline Among Party Members
According to the governor, the smooth running of the primaries was a testament to the unity, maturity, and discipline displayed by the party members. He stated that the primary election was inclusive and fair, underscoring the dedication and mutual trust among the leaders.
Selecting a Deputy Governor from Ogun East
Governor Abiodun also addressed the selection of a deputy governorship candidate for the APC gubernatorial candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola. He explained that the party collectively decided to place the deputy governor’s position in the Ogun East senatorial district, particularly in the Ijebu area, since the gubernatorial candidate is from Ogun West.
Recognizing Political Milestones for Ogun West
Congratulating the residents of Ogun West Senatorial District for producing the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Abiodun highlighted this achievement as a significant milestone in the state’s political history. He noted that this move breaks a 50-year cycle during which the constituency did not have a gubernatorial candidate, signaling the APC’s commitment to equity and fair representation among the three senatorial districts.
Enhancing Security Through Technology
The governor announced plans to implement technology-driven solutions to combat banditry and kidnapping, aiming to strengthen security throughout the state. He stressed the need for a robust security framework to protect citizens, particularly children, who represent the future of the community.
Focus on Infrastructure and Human Capital Development
Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in infrastructure development while shifting focus towards enhancing human capital and social investment programs. He expressed the goal of alleviating the economic challenges faced by residents and ensuring that the benefits of democracy reach all sectors of the state.
In his welcome address, APC State Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi echoed the governor’s sentiments, commending party members for their commendable behavior during and after the primaries. He noted the meeting’s purpose was to strategize for the party’s success in the upcoming general elections.
