Governor Adeleke Focuses on Re-election Amidst Political Distractions
The Osun State Re-election Campaign Council, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, has firmly rejected what it describes as an effort by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State to undermine his candidacy for a second term. The governor is concentrated on winning the confidence of voters as the August 15, 2026 gubernatorial election approaches.
Campaign Spokesperson Addresses Opposition Tactics
Permi Olajembesi, spokesperson for Adeleke’s campaign, stated on Tuesday that attempts by the opposition to divert the governor’s attention through what he termed “political theater” and “manufactured controversies” have failed to resonate with the electorate. He emphasized that these distractions would not deter the governor from showcasing the accomplishments of his administration.
Adekele’s Campaign Strategy Remains Robust
Following the official launch of Adeleke’s re-election campaign, Olajembesi asserted that all opposition efforts to sabotage the governor’s successful electoral bid have been unsuccessful. The spokesperson highlighted the increasing number of defections from the APC to the Accord Party, where Adeleke is a candidate, as a sign of shifting political dynamics within the state, showcasing the governor’s growing popularity.
Decline of APC Signals Changing Political Landscape
Olajembesi noted, “The decline of the Osun APC due to the defection of influential and politically astute individuals to the Accord Party underscores the evident political transformations occurring in Osun State.” He expressed confidence that Adeleke remains the top choice for a majority of voters in the region, asserting that the opposition’s maneuvering will not alter prevailing public sentiment ahead of the elections.
Criticism of Opposition’s Focus on Controversy
The campaign spokesperson further criticized the APC for its preoccupation with controversy instead of offering solid policy alternatives. He argued that the opposition appears incapable of presenting a compelling vision to rival the governor’s record in office. According to Olajembesi, the APC is showing signs of restlessness and disarray as Adeleke’s re-election campaign gains momentum.
Adeleke’s Achievements Drive Voter Support
Concerned about the growing support for Adeleke, the APC seems to have shifted its focus away from substantive issues, according to Olajembesi. He highlighted key accomplishments of the governor’s administration in sectors such as health care, education, infrastructure, and economic management, which he believes have solidified public trust in Adeleke.
Election Outcomes in the Hands of Voters
Ultimately, Olajembesi affirmed that the election results will be determined by the electorate. He stated that tactics involving propaganda, intimidation, and distraction will not shape the outcome of the polls. “The future of our state will be decided by the people’s votes, not by manufactured controversies or political chaos,” he added.
