Appointment of New Vice-Chancellor at Thai Solarin Federal University of Education
The Governing Council of the Thai Solarin Federal University of Education has officially appointed Professor Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo as its new Vice-Chancellor. This marks a significant milestone as Oladipo becomes the sixth individual to hold this esteemed position at the university.
In a statement released by the university’s registrar, Dapo Oke, Oladipo’s selection was highlighted as a noteworthy achievement grounded in academic merit and commitment to educational values. His extensive background as a professor of social psychology and as a member of the TASUED foundation faculty positions him well to lead the university into its next chapter.
The announcement came during a board meeting where Professor Rahamon Bello, the Chancellor’s Advocate and Chairman of the Governing Council, recognized Oladipo’s exemplary contributions to the institution. He emphasized Oladipo’s journey, underscoring his remarkable achievements and steadfast dedication to the founding ideals of the university.
Born on June 29, 1969, in the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos Oladipo in Akinmulin, Oyo State, Oladipo began his career at the Tai Solarin College of Education in 1999. He seamlessly transitioned to TASUED in 2005, where he reached the rank of professor in October 2014, reflecting his academic prowess and leadership abilities.
Before taking on the Vice-Chancellor role, Oladipo held various significant positions within the university, such as Chair of the University Performance Review Committee, Director of the Research and External Relations Directorate, and Dean of the Pioneer College of Professional Education. His diverse administrative experience also includes serving as Deputy Director-General of the Academic Planning, Quality Assurance and Research Directorate.
His academic journey has also taken him abroad, notably during his sabbatical at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akumba Akoko, and a postdoctoral fellowship at North West University in South Africa from 2013 to 2015. He has received the prestigious National Research Fund Award for his impactful contributions to education and research.
Professor Oladipo has an impressive publication record, having authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, 10 edited academic volumes, and several book chapters, along with more than 15 Christian books. His recent research includes a TETFund-sponsored study focused on developing a psychoeducational counseling intervention program for survivors of child sexual abuse in Nigeria. His academic interests span spirituality and health, gender-based violence, and the development of psychological scales.
A member of several professional societies, Oladipo is associated with the American Psychological Association and the Nigerian Psychological Association, among others. Beyond academia, he is also recognized as a pastor, teacher, and administrator, known for his discipline and punctuality. In his spare time, he enjoys writing, swimming, singing, and cultivating meaningful relationships.
Professor Oladipo is married to Mrs. Christina Oladipo and together they have children. His official term as Vice-Chancellor will commence on May 5, 2026.
