The National Youth Leader of the APC, Dayo Israel, made the announcement during the opening ceremony of the Dr. Mustafa Abdullahi Energy Leadership Fellowship (MAELF) in Abuja. This program is designed to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders in the nation’s energy landscape.

Israel highlighted that this grant is backed by both Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, aiming to provide fellowships and other opportunities for aspiring professionals in the energy sector.

The seven-day residential fellowship seeks to prepare young professionals in Nigeria’s energy transition policy, climate action, leadership, and governance. Participants of the fellowship will have the opportunity to interact with the Nigerian Energy Commission, the Renewable Energy Agency, and various governmental energy bodies. The initiative emphasizes renewable energy sources, including biogas, in a strategic effort to resolve Nigeria’s ongoing energy crisis. Nafisat Obrebu, a fellow and co-founder of Fosun Solar Energy Nigeria Limited, pointed out that while Nigeria is abundant in energy resources, reliability remains a significant issue. She asserted that programs like the fellowship could pave the way for sustainable solutions to the nation’s energy challenges.
