African Public Relations Association and Namibia Press Agency Forge Partnership
The African Public Relations Association (APRA) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), enhancing collaborative efforts in communications within the continent.
Preparing for the 2026 Effective Communicators Conference
This agreement follows NAMPA’s invitation to APRA to co-host the 2026 Effective Communicators Conference (ECC), which is set to take place from July 14 to 17 at The Dome, located in Swakopmund, Namibia’s premier coastal resort and adventure capital.
Innovative Themes at the Upcoming Conference
Themed “Rethinking Communication: The Power of Continuous Progress,” the ECC will be guided by the leadership of Minister Emma Theoffels. The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MICT) will also play a crucial role in introducing various events preceding the conference in Windhoek.
A Diverse Gathering for Forward-Thinking Dialogue
The ECC aims to unite some of Africa’s most influential figures and international partners in sectors like public relations, marketing, government communications, and journalism. This event seeks to revolutionize the narrative surrounding Africa and its future, emphasizing the importance of effective storytelling.
APRA’s Vision and Commitment to Development
This initiative aligns with APRA’s broader mission to enhance the role of communication as a pivotal driver of development. It encourages collaboration among academics, professionals, and policymakers in public relations and communication management, fostering an environment rich in knowledge, skills, and meaningful dialogue to tackle contemporary communication challenges.
Key Forums and Discussions Planned for ECC 2026
ECC 2026 is structured around six strategic forums focused on fostering dialogue among leaders, practitioners, and decision-makers. While the discussions will primarily address Southern African contexts and priorities, the insights gained are anticipated to resonate across the entire continent. One of the highlights will be the Heads of State and Diplomatic Forum, gathering high-ranking officials to align regional communication strategies and enhance Africa’s global narrative.
Engaging Topics across Multiple Forums
Additional discussions will cover various critical themes, including the Captains of Industry Forum, which will examine the business sector’s influence on regional development. An exclusive forum for editors and senior journalists will tackle issues related to press freedom and information integrity. Furthermore, government communicators will convene to share strategies, while a Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Forum will focus on crisis management and effective messaging campaigns. The Digital Storytelling Forum will explore innovative digital tools, AI content creation, and the evolution of creator-led narratives across Africa.
This conference represents a significant opportunity for stakeholders in Africa’s communication landscape, reflecting the increasing recognition of communication as a vital element in driving the continent’s growth and prosperity. With over 1,000 participants expected, APRA also plans to hold its Annual General Meeting ahead of its 37th meeting in November 2026, coinciding with the World Public Affairs Forum in Abuja.
