Nigerian Air Force Intensifies Offensive Operations Against Criminal Elements
Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), has directed personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to enhance their offensive operations against terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal groups. This initiative aims to eliminate these threats and prevent them from finding refuge anywhere in the nation.
This directive was issued during the final fitness evaluation for trainees enrolled in the 2026 Special Forces Course 13 at the Regimental Training Center Annex (RTCA) in Bauchi. During his address, Air Marshal Aneke reiterated the NAF’s commitment to improving its operational effectiveness through rigorous and practical special forces training.
The CAS emphasized that the Air Force will persist in bolstering its capabilities to address terrorism, insurgency, kidnapping, and other pressing security issues. This commitment entails cultivating a highly trained workforce that is mission-ready and capable of responding adeptly to emerging threats.
In a statement released by Air Chief Marshal Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Affairs and Information for the NAF, Aneke pointed out that the evolving security landscape necessitates personnel who are physically fit, mentally strong, and thoroughly prepared for complex operational missions.
The Air Chief asserted, “The Nigerian Air Force will continue to train, equip, and deploy personnel capable of combating terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal elements wherever they exist.” He stressed that those who pose a threat to the safety of innocent civilians must realize that there will be no refuge for crime. The NAF’s resolve to safeguard the nation is unwavering.
Special Forces Training Emphasizes Physical Fitness and Mental Resilience
During the assessment, Squadron Leader Edeama Lawrence Akpan, the Commander of RTCA Bauchi, explained that the evaluation was designed to ensure that only trainees demonstrating exceptional physical fitness, determination, and operational readiness would be allowed to advance in the course.
He noted that special forces operatives often face challenging and hostile environments, where mission success relies heavily on physical endurance, mental fortitude, and steadfast dedication to objectives. The fitness test serves as a critical gauge of trainees’ preparedness for the rigorous demands of special operations and their future responsibilities.
Akpan highlighted that the final physical fitness assessment symbolizes the NAF’s determination to uphold a capable force that is ready to support ongoing military operations nationwide. It also signifies the service’s dedication to nurturing physically robust, mentally resilient, and mission-ready special forces operators who can effectively tackle contemporary security challenges.
Through continued investment in realistic training and strict adherence to high standards, the NAF is steadily cultivating an elite force poised to excel on the battlefield, safeguard innocent lives, and play a pivotal role in achieving national security objectives.
