The NUC communicated its approval in a letter dated June 15, 2026, following an extensive resource assessment that evaluated the institution’s readiness in terms of faculty, physical infrastructure, library resources, laboratories, and other essential facilities necessary for implementing the proposed programs.
The approved undergraduate programs include degrees in Arabic Language Education, Hausa Language Education, Islamic Studies Education, Sharia, Social Work, Agricultural Sciences Education, Human Kinesiology Education, and Health Education. Meanwhile, graduate offerings comprise a Master of Arts in Educational Administration, a Doctor of Business Administration, a Graduate Diploma, a Master of Laws, a Juris Doctorate, and Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology.
In reaction to this significant development, Professor Fatima Tahir, the university’s vice-chancellor, hailed the approval as a robust endorsement of the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, institutional growth, and adherence to NUC’s regulatory standards.
Tahir expressed that the introduction of these new programs aligns with the university’s strategic vision to enhance access to quality higher education, promote research and innovation, and equip graduates with essential skills to tackle both national and global challenges.
He conveyed appreciation for the trust the NUC has placed in the university’s capability to offer these approved programs while reaffirming the institution’s commitment to meeting quality assurance standards. He also extended thanks to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for his unwavering support of tertiary education through continuous investments in infrastructure and academic development.
Further acknowledging the collective efforts of the University Governing Council, Senate, management, and academic and non-academic staff, Tahir expressed confidence that the university would provide the necessary resources for the effective implementation of the new programs in accordance with NUC’s quality assurance guidelines.
