The national leadership of the Labor Party has officially named Hajja Bintu Konto as its vice-presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 presidential election. The party expresses enthusiasm about the prospect of running alongside presidential candidate Chibuzo Okereke on the party ticket.

Hajja Bintu Konto: A Leader in Public Health and Humanitarian Work
Hajja Bintu Konto is a distinguished public health expert and humanitarian whose career spans over three decades. Her significant contributions to health care, community development, and humanitarian intervention have earned her a reputation as a consensus builder and compassionate leader, particularly in conflict-affected areas of northern Nigeria.
Extensive Experience in Humanitarian Leadership
Now retired from Catholic Relief Services, Hajja Konto has held several key leadership positions, including Community and Government Liaison Program Officer. She has been instrumental in high-level engagements with governmental and traditional institutions, civil society organizations, and communities, driving forward initiatives in health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and humanitarian programs.
Educational Credentials and Current Roles
A trained nurse, midwife, and health educator, Hajja Konto holds a Master’s degree in Public Health. She also serves as a lecturer in community health, actively contributing to the training of future health professionals. Currently, she is a member of the Country Coordination Mechanism of the Global Fund in Nigeria and holds prominent positions, including Country Treasurer of the Citizens Association for Malaria Control, Immunization, and Nutrition (ACOMIN).
