Nigerian Women Set to Take on Key Roles in Nation-Building
Ngozi Oyewole, the National Convenor and Executive Director of Business Women of Influence for a New Hope Agenda (BWI-RHA), has affirmed that women in Nigeria are poised to take on pivotal roles in national development, economic advancement, and community revitalization. Her remarks came during the pre-launch event for the BWI-RHA in Abuja, where she was represented by Hajia Mariah Danjuma, the group’s communications director.
A New Dawn for Women in Leadership
Oyewole characterized the BWI-RHA as more than just an advocacy organization; it signifies a national movement of women intent on shaping Nigeria’s future through enterprise, leadership, influence, and service. She emphasized the initiative’s mission to mobilize, empower, and position women as essential drivers of national transformation, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s ‘New Hope’ agenda.
Appreciation for Leadership Amid Difficulties
Praising President Tinubu for his courage and dedication to rebuilding Nigeria in the face of economic and social challenges, Oyewole highlighted the importance of strong leadership during times of adversity. “Leadership is tested in moments that demand bold decisions and sacrifice,” she remarked, emphasizing that Nigerian women are transitioning from being mere supporters to strategic partners in nation-building.
Creating a National Support Network
The BWI-RHA aims to establish a robust national platform where women can emerge as builders of enterprises, champions of economic growth, and agents of community change. Oyewole stated that the initiative seeks to unite women across various sectors—from market vendors and entrepreneurs to professionals in governance and technology—into a cohesive support network.
Focus on Empowerment and Economic Inclusion
Outlining the group’s objectives, Oyewole indicated that BWI-RHA will prioritize women’s entrepreneurship, skills development, grassroots empowerment, leadership training, and strategic partnerships. “Our mission is to empower women, create opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to the New Hope Agenda,” she added, underlining the critical need for stakeholder engagement in fostering women’s economic participation.
A Call to Action for Women
She urged stakeholders, including government bodies and private sector partners, to invest in Nigerian women, asserting that the country’s future is heavily contingent on female economic engagement and leadership. Oyewole encouraged women not to underestimate their influence. “We are not waiting to be invited to the table of national development; we are actively constructing that table,” she stated, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to elevating women’s roles.
Building an Inclusive and Resilient Future
OYewole is dedicated to establishing a credible and inclusive women-led platform that inspires future generations. The organization plans to create structures that ensure participation from women in both urban and rural areas, facilitating initiatives that address governance and community issues. “Stand up with confidence, purpose, and courage for Nigeria. The future does not wait, and neither should we,” she concluded, energizing her audience to take proactive steps toward national development.
