Chemical and Allied Products Plc Appoints New Executive Director
Chemical and Allied Products Plc (CAP Plc), a subsidiary of UAC of Nigeria Plc, has announced the appointment of Jethro Iruobe as its Executive Director, effective June 25. In his new role, Iruobe will manage the development and execution of the company’s strategic priorities, ensuring comprehensive leadership across essential functions to drive continued growth and sustainability.
Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer, Iruobe oversees a variety of critical areas including human resources, corporate communications, fleet management, and commercial excellence. His extensive background and hands-on experience will be instrumental as CAP Plc navigates its future endeavors.
Professional Background and Experience
Iruobe joined CAP Plc in 2019 as Human Resources Director before transitioning to the Chief Operating Officer role. With over 19 years of experience spanning the financial services, consulting, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and manufacturing sectors, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the executive team.
His professional journey began in the banking industry, where he honed his skills before shifting focus to human resources. He launched his HR career at KPMG and went on to hold leadership positions at Promasidor Nigeria, Coca-Cola HBC, and TGI Nigeria. Throughout these roles, he has cultivated expertise in talent management, organizational development, and HR strategy, enabling various organizations to form high-performing teams that contribute to sustained business growth.
Contributions Beyond Corporate Roles
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Iruobe is an active columnist for Business Day Newspaper, a trained relationship counselor, and a co-author. He has been recognized with several awards within the HR industry, underscoring his commitment to excellence. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Benin and an MBA from Manchester Business School in the UK. Furthermore, he is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds the Global Professional in Human Resources certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute.
New Company Secretary Appointed
In a related development, CAP Plc has also appointed Ortola Vella as company secretary, effective July 13. He succeeds Aramide Nwokediwko, who resigned to assume a new executive role within UAC of Nigeria Group on the same date. The board has expressed confidence in the new appointees and their potential to significantly contribute to the company’s ongoing success.
Vella, who is also the company’s general counsel, will play a vital role in guiding the board and management on corporate governance matters. He will be responsible for ensuring that CAP Plc adheres to all relevant regulatory, legal, and governance obligations.
Vella’s Comprehensive Legal Expertise
With over 18 years of experience as a trusted legal advisor across various sectors, Vella is well-equipped for his new responsibilities. Before joining CAP Plc, he served as Principal Advisor at DealWorks Advisory, a consultancy focused on growth-driven businesses in Africa. His previous experience includes roles as Deputy Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel for Sub-Saharan Africa at Moove, a fintech company specializing in mobility solutions, where he built and expanded the legal and compliance teams.
Vella has also held significant legal positions at Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, advising on risk and governance issues for their Corporate and Investment Banking division. An alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Cambridge, Vella was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007. He is an active member of various professional organizations and has participated in numerous leadership programs, further solidifying his expertise and commitment to his field.
