Chief Abraham Jimawo, a former Executive Director of the Edo State Rapid Response Agency, has received clearance from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Review Committee, allowing him to participate in the party’s primaries for the Etsako Federal Constituency seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This significant development marks a pivotal moment in Jimawo’s bid to secure the APC nomination for the House of Representatives.
The announcement was made public on Sunday through a statement from Comrade Kenneth Oshiogwemo, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Project Jimawo 2027 organization. According to the release, the vetting exercise took place in Abuja, adhering to the APC’s guidelines for aspirants aiming for elective positions nationwide.
“Project 2027 Jimawo Organization is proud to announce that Chief Abraham Jimawo has successfully passed the vetting process and been approved by the party’s review committee to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Etsako Federal Constituency,” the statement indicated. The selection exercise was described as thorough and conducted in a professional manner.
During the review, Jimawo presented his qualifications, policy agenda, and service record, which the committee deemed fully compliant with the party’s requirements. Known for his philanthropic efforts and grassroots initiatives throughout Edo North, Jimawo is seeking to represent a constituency that includes the Etsako East, Etsako West, and Etsako Central Local Government Areas, all notable for their political influence.
With the APC primaries slated for May 18, 2026, political activity in the constituency is ramping up as aspirants position themselves for the upcoming elections. Supporters of Jimawo believe that his diverse background in civil service, private business, and community development uniquely qualifies him to emerge as the party’s candidate.
The Project Jimawo 2027 organization stated that he continues to garner support from various groups and stakeholders across the three local governments that comprise the constituency. Jimawo has expressed his gratitude to the review committee for its transparent evaluation and reiterated his commitment to effective representation focused on infrastructure, agricultural reform, and community empowerment.
As he mobilizes grassroots support, Jimawo aims to build a constituency characterized by responsible governance and tangible development. He emphasized the significance of continuing to engage stakeholders ahead of the primaries, focusing on issues that resonate with residents, including road infrastructure, youth employment, education, and rural development.
The APC’s vetting process is considered an integral part of the ruling party’s strategy for the 2027 elections, ensuring that candidates undergo rigorous verification to assess their qualifications in accordance with constitutional provisions, party guidelines, and electoral laws. As competition intensifies in Edo State, the political landscape is evolving, particularly in the Etsako Federal Constituency, known for its connections to prominent political figures and its considerable electoral power.
