Emir of Ilorin Offers Support to APC Candidates
Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin, publicly voiced his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates on Monday, praising the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as a significant factor in his endorsement. His remarks came during a gathering at the palace, where a large assembly of APC leaders and candidates were present to receive the royal blessings.
The delegation, led by Prince Sunday Fagbemi, the state APC chairman, included prominent party officials, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and gubernatorial candidate Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi, along with candidates for various positions throughout the state.
In his address to the gathered officials, the Emir expressed his admiration for the turnout, emphasizing the positive qualities of Governor Abdulrazaq. He commended the governor’s transformative initiatives and extended his best wishes for continued success for both the governor and the party in the upcoming elections.
“The forecourt of my palace has been filled with your supporters since morning. Is today a voting day, or have you come merely to familiarize yourselves? I pray for blessings upon our governor in his endeavors,” said the Emir. He further urged honesty in acknowledging the governor’s accomplishments, asserting the importance of speaking out in favor of visible progress.
“Starting with Governor Abdulrazaq and continuing with the other party candidates, may God grant you electoral success and spare you from disgrace,” he added, reinforcing his hope for the APC’s favorable performance in future elections.
After the meeting, Danladi addressed the media, highlighting the diverse interests within democracy and reaffirming his commitment to unifying stakeholders. He responded to concerns raised by several party members, assuring them that efforts were underway to align everyone behind both Governor Abdulrazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the advancement of Kwara and Nigeria.
Danladi emphasized the correlation between peace and development, calling for collaboration and dialogue. “We have established a reconciliation committee to address any issues, and I am confident they will fulfill their mission. We will ensure that peace prevails in the APC and across Kwara,” he stated. He remained optimistic about the upcoming elections, expressing confidence in a successful outcome, supported by strong community enthusiasm.
In his earlier comments, Prince Fagbemi outlined the candidate selection process, affirming that the party’s primaries were conducted in accordance with national guidelines. He formally introduced the candidates to the Emir and sought his blessings for their success in the 2027 elections.
