As a member of his digital strategy team, I have a unique perspective on his daily routine. One truth stands out: Kumuyi operates with a speed that rivals even the most energetic Gen Z individuals. While respect and admiration for his achievements are inherently part of working alongside him, it’s his remarkable grace and dynamic energy that truly captivate.
Unyielding Commitment to the Mission
Working with Pastor Kumuyi means witnessing an unwavering commitment to the Great Commission. Earlier this year, he completed a rigorous two-week crusade across Port Harcourt, Bori, and Ahoada. Our team joined him in a makeshift office, visibly fatigued simply by looking at his demanding itinerary. Out of concern for his health, we suggested postponing his upcoming crusade in Thailand, especially given the geopolitical tensions affecting air travel. However, he swiftly dismissed our worries, insisting we proceed with organizing our plans for Thailand. With less than one percent of the population identified as Christian, he saw the need as urgent. For him, risk and fatigue paled in comparison to the mission at hand.
The Urgency of Outreach
In the digital realm, even a minor delay in content publication can disrupt our timeline. For Pastor Kumuyi, however, such delays carry profound implications. I once missed a 6 a.m. content deadline, leading to a conversation with him where he reframed our approach. Instead of discussing social media algorithms, he expressed concern for lost souls, emphasizing that a one-hour setback could hinder someone from hearing about Christ before facing dire circumstances. Each strategy we develop is anchored in the mission to save souls.
