Fidelity Bank Appoints Jonathan Ososuakpol as Non-Executive Director
Fidelity Bank PLC has announced the appointment of Jonathan Ososuakpol as a non-executive director, effective May 22. This development was confirmed in a recent statement issued on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) and signed by Ezinwa Unuigboje, the bank’s secretary. The bank expressed confidence that Ososuakpol will contribute significantly to achieving its strategic goals.
The appointment received the necessary approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Additionally, relevant regulatory bodies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, have been duly informed of this decision.
According to the bank, the Board of Directors welcomes Dr. Jonathan Onyovosa Ososuakpol to his new role. They anticipate a strong collaborative effort to drive the bank’s objectives forward.
Extensive Experience in Financial Services
Jonathan Ososuakpol brings over four decades of diverse experience within the financial services sector, specializing in areas such as credit, marketing, retail and consumer banking, as well as risk management. His career began at Union Bank of Nigeria in 1983, where he held various positions in well-known financial institutions, including Gateway Bank, Oceanic Bank, Ecobank Nigeria Plc, and Access Bank Plc.
His leadership experience culminated in his tenure as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AMJU Unique Microfinance Bank Limited starting in 2012, a role he maintained until his retirement in July 2025. He also served as Chairman of Universal Finance Consult & Investment Limited from 2007 to 2017 and held similar responsibilities at V-Capital Consulting Limited from 2015 to 2025.
Currently, Ososuakpol is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Top Rank Oil Services Limited, a multifaceted engineering company focused on serving the domestic oil and gas sector as well as both public and private industries.
Robust Academic Background
Ososuakpol possesses a solid academic foundation, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance, as well as a Master’s degree in the same field from the University of Benin. Further demonstrating his commitment to education, he earned a Master of Science and a PhD in Economics from Delta State University in Nigeria, along with an MBA in Finance from Bangor University in Wales.
In addition to his degrees, his professional credentials include fellowship status with several prestigious institutions, such as the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Institute of Credit Management, Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria, and the Association of Corporate Risk Management Professionals. He is also recognized as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and is an active member of the Economic Association of Nigeria and the Chartered Bankers Association of Wales.
