Former APC Spokesperson Declares Candidacy for Mushin House of Representatives Seat
Mr. Saye Oladejo, the former spokesperson for the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), officially announced his intention to run for the Mushin 2nd Congressional District seat in the House of Representatives during a manifesto presentation in Lagos on Saturday.
A Call for Support and Leadership
In front of party members, supporters, and community leaders, Oladejo emphasized his commitment to a leadership style that prioritizes human welfare, visibility, and measurable impact. Drawing from his extensive civil service and political experience in Mushin and Lagos State, he articulated his desire for continued service to the community.
Highlighting Past Achievements
Oladejo reflected on his previous roles, including serving as the secretary and later chairman of the Mushin local government. He also held positions as Special Advisor to the Governor on Commerce and Industry and as Secretary for Special Assignments and Intergovernmental Relations. He urged the audience to support his candidacy for the 2nd Congressional District seat.
The Importance of Representation
With the House of Representatives comprising 360 members, Oladejo asserted that every constituency deserves quality representation. He expressed confidence in his ability to deliver for the people, stating, “I’m one of the best Mushin has produced.” He reiterated his belief that effective leadership is characterized by performance, accessibility, and a genuine commitment to public welfare.
Commitment to Progressive Legislation
During his address, Oladejo introduced what he termed a “Pact,” a social contract between himself and the residents of the Mushin Second Constituency. He highlighted that legislation aimed at enhancing the welfare and economic opportunities for constituents, including the Lagos Special Status and Infrastructure Support Bill, would be central to his agenda.
Promoting Youth Development and Community Welfare
Oladejo’s proposed Youth Development Bill aims to empower young people and artisans through vocational and technical skills training. He also outlined his initiative to provide scholarships for deserving students in public higher education and free examination forms for underprivileged candidates.
Support from Community Leaders
Community leaders expressed their backing for Oladejo’s candidacy, with Kayode Sobande from the Sewe Oladejo movement urging residents to support him. “He will do a lot for the people of Mushin Federal Constituency once he is in the House of Representatives,” Sobande asserted. Likewise, Mushin Local Government Chairman Olatubosun Aluwe reiterated support, confirming Oladejo as the national candidate for the district’s APC primaries.
Engagement with Constituents
In addition to advancing legislative goals, Oladejo committed to establishing regular sports competitions and talent identification initiatives aimed at fostering local youth engagement in sports and the arts. His holistic approach also includes mental health advocacy and the establishment of a senior wellness center, further emphasizing his dedication to fostering a healthy and active community.
