President Voices Concern Over Abductions in Oyo State
President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deep concern regarding the recent abductions of students and teachers from various schools in Oyo State. Demonstrating his commitment to ensuring their safe return, he dispatched a federal government delegation led by Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, to the affected communities of Esiere and Yawota in Oriyele Local Government Area.
Federal Response to Abductions and Recruitment of Forest Rangers
The delegation, which included National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu, Chief of Defense Staff General Christopher Musa, and Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications Sunday Dare, reaffirmed the President’s determination to address this urgent matter. In response to the escalating security crisis, Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest rangers in partnership with the state government to bolster safety in the area.
Updating Local Leaders on Security Initiatives
During their visit, the federal delegation engaged with local community leaders and legislators, informing them that requests for establishing military bases in the region would be forwarded to the President for immediate consideration. This initiative aims to enhance security measures and reassure residents about ongoing efforts to restore peace and safety.

In an effort to intensify rescue operations, the President has commanded specialized security forces equipped with advanced capabilities to focus on the release of the abducted individuals. Gbajabiamila, addressing the community members in both English and Yoruba, emphasized the President’s determination to utilize all available resources to facilitate the safe return of the abductees. No matter what, the children and teachers will return home safely.” His commitment is bolstered by the support offered to security agencies to achieve this critical objective.

They extended their condolences to Mrs. Mary Oedokun, the widow of a deceased school teacher, and her two children, assuring her that the President’s concern was profound and that the family would receive support during this painful time.
